Finally got to bring home a G19 Gen4 yesterday. I've seen reviews split down the middle on this new Gen4, but I'm willing to give it a try. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, so no first hand report on any malfunctions right now. My money is on the gun running 100%.

It came with three factory mags, which was nice. I really like the feel of the grip size as is, without either of the backstraps added. The "medium" backstrap, which adds 2mm is supposed to make the grip feel like the Gen3 grip. I would probably hate the 4mm addition, so I probably won't ever put that one one for trial. The texturing of the grip is nice. It gives a good purchase on the gun, but isn't quite as rough as the RTF. I really, really like the new magazine release. I've heard some reviews mention that the color of the slide was more of a matte gray color, but mine appears to be as black as usual. Not sure if that gray was a select few or what. The trigger does feel a little heavier on this gun than on my previous G17. It will probably and hopefully loosen up some after a trip to the range. I'm also very curious to see if this new dual recoil spring system will really affect the felt recoil all that much. I"ll get back to these issues with a post after the range trip.

Very nice! I have a gen 3 19 but my hands are on the smaller size so the 4th gen is very appealing. I too have also seen mixed reviews on the gen 4 so please let us know how she does at the range!!!

Unfortunately, based on the numerous reports that I have read to date, I cannot share your optimism for it running 100% out of the box. I'd definitely run a few hundred rounds through it before carrying. Too many reports of them suffering FTF and FTE for some reason.
