It is well known that the .357 Magnum is based on the .38 Special cartridge and the .44 Magnum based on the .44 Special. The .38 and .44 Special cartriges have the capacity to hold the powder charge used in the Magnum calibers.

Why are the Magnum cases longer?

First correct answer wins...nothing actually, maybe bragging rights or satisfaction in passing on some knowledge. :) I know the answer, do you? :poop:

I miss a good steamed sub. Middle TN don't even know what they are.

The one out west is still good enough for me. I was living in Powell when they closed the original down. Sad day.
