Torture Testing

torture test subjects the item to a number of severe trials that far surpass anything it would ever be likely to encounter in real-world usage.

i love those torture test for entertainment purposes only but I'm not influenced to buy anything based on Torture Test

it is so funny to see same things done to items over and over again. and items could be a gun , flashlight , a cell phone etc.etc.

driving a car over a Item,

trowing it from a height, sticking it in a 5 gallon bucket full of sand

cold water boiling water

What are your thoughts about Torture Test???

They're only fun if you're administering them

Torture tests are great, if like Glock23ForMe said, someone else is picking up the tab.

In some ways I agree, they often don't mean alot to me.

Hmm. In knifemaking, torture & destruction testing is a very vital learning tool. Only by breaking something can you find out where it's weaknesses lie. Admittedly, it sucks the big one to make a beautiful blade & then purposely break it, but I learnt a helluva lot in doing so (many times, I might add)

Depends on how realistic it is. For example, I've never seen what happens when someone attempts to cut into a gun safe with a reciprocating saw. I have my theories on how that will turn out, but no proof. Fortunately, I just happen to have a quality gun safe that I'm planning to try that very thing on, then post here for all of us to enjoy. :) That could really happen in the real world, if you have a safe in your garage (with your tools), or the a thief just feels like he has time, or he steals the entire safe and tries to open it later somewhere else.

I like seeing 'torture tests' of products I'm considering purchasing. I don't get much out of tests like "We dunked this gun into water, and it still worked", but I do see some value in testing that runs a product until a part of it fails, just because it points out the weakness of the item.

I guess it is nice to know my Glock will shoot underwater. You know, should the zombies grow gills. :)

Uh... zombies don't need gills... They're dead and don't breath anyway, so being underwater doesn't impair their functioning. Unless they float off with the current or something....

I think it's valid if it's part of the engineering. A lot of guys have died in combat with a broken gun in their hands. Bubba testing on youtube is a different story.

Yeah, but the other side of that is that if Bubba can't break it, it's highly unlikely that you or I can either.

I guess when it comes right down to it, I don't mind seeing other people tear up their stuff, if it'll give me a good idea of how well my own will hold up, or what part or piece I need to keep an eye on. :)

I don't mind it. Some of it is real entertaining. I just have a lot more faith in structured testing.
