I'm planning on picking up a chronograph, and just began looking. What's yall's opinions, on best, features, and price point(lower the better.) Did a search not much came up.

Do they all have the female threads on the bottom (like a camera) for the tripod?

I think so. Of course, you can just get a buddy to hold it up for you. Just have to worry about shooting the chrony if he sneezes :)

Ditto

I added the usb connection to connect it to my laptop.

A friend of mine bought the remote with his. It's not absolutely necessary if you don't mind writing the numbers down. I'll probably buy one for mine too.

Chrony is ok, I have one, been using it for 12 years now.. If I were to replace it, I would get me a CED Millennium 2 Chronograph System, then of course there is the Oehler 35P.. To which has not been made for a while, but I understand that but started making them again this summer, they are the best. Don't know anyone that is using the Pact.

I have to agree with Mike Gideon. I had a Chrony Beta Master(gotta really watch how you say that!) and it had the remote but to me seemed hard to operate and was a bother to set up. I picked up a CE ProChrono and I was amazed how simple and easy it was. I leave it on a spare tripod and just throw it out there to test loads. No real setup required. It is limited to 9 strings and you have to work it manually but I do not find this to be a problem 10 feet from the bench.

Cool, I appreciate the info. My gun bag got "jacked" down at picwick over the 4th, didn't get my gun thank goodness. Anyways, Insurance aught to be paying off in the next day or too, and decided to upgrade a few things. Always wanted a chrono.

I was looking at the Competition Electronics over at Brownelle's. It's on sale3 there too, I assume. They had a price of like 88-90$. Can you use any usb, or do you have to buy the 45.00 cord and program? Do you have to use there program, or will it download to excel? That would be really cool.

I did a ton of research before I bought mine. The CE is probably the best one out there, and it's cheap. I don't reload (yet), so I bought it just to work up trajectories.

Unless you are some kind of mister wizard you will need thier usb device, it does not appear to be a standard type of device.
