Reasonable FFL transfer in Memphis

Hey guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I have learned so much on the site. Now I have a question. I am considering buying some handguns and maybe a rifle or two from buds gun shop as they are about 50-100$ less than the local shops. However, in attempting to locate a reputable FFL to ship to in Memphis (individual, pawn shop, gun store, etc), I can't seem to fin one that is willing to do the transfer for less than 35$ + t.i.c.s. per gun, which would kind of negate the savings. There was even a certain sporting goods store that wanted 85$ for one transfer. Does anybody know of a person or shop with a reasonable ($25 or less per gun) FFL transfer fee?

Thanks for the info.

Just checked their website. It says that used gun transfers are $25, however new gun transfers are $40, which is a bit steep for me.

Thanks for the help all the same though!

Don't forget to consider sales tax savings and shipping costs (if any) when evaluating transfer + TICS fees. 9.25% on an expensive gun can justify higher transfer fees quite easily.

You might check with some of the local pawn shops, depending on where in Memphis you're located. Here are two I've used with very good results.

In Raleigh I've used AA Pawn Shop at 2830 Austin Peay Hwy. #1, and they were $25 + $10 TIC. The owner and the primary employee are both into Cowboy action shooting so they love to talk guns. See "Doc" or "Tumbleweed". Phone is 901.372.8051

Or if you ever head up Hwy 51 into Tipton County, I've used 51 Pawn Shop at 14382 Hwy 51. I usually deal with Micah, who is the manager. Phone is 901.837.274. They were also $ 25 + $ 10.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the help guys. I used the gunbroker FFL search and found some pretty reasonable prices. One person in particular stuck out, so I gave him a call and he was a really nice guy.Once I get everything arranged, I'll let you know how it works out in case anyone else is interested in an FFL transfer in Memphis.
