I have the collectors edition, but my computer sucks balls. I got the collectors edition because of the cool extras and the fact it comes with the original starcraft w/brood war expansion on a 2GB USB drive.

I only ever played the first one on N64 so I'm not sure how much I want this new one. That combined with the fact that I know it's gonna be one of those games that eats every waking hour.

IS it on-line only? What are the monthly costs?

No monthly cost, just reg. with battlenet. Single and multiplayer, not online only.

The full version of the first Starcraft was avalaible for N64. With the Zerg and the Protoss and the Terrans. You could play one on one against another person choosing from a selection of maps. They also had multiple campaigns available to each race.

SC2 looks great, i'll have to get it soon. As much as I like World of Warcraft I wish they would make another RTS on the original Warcraft franchise.

I can see we need some Sid Meier's Civilization training on this forum.

I love the Civ stuff, huge time eater though...

Never played on anything but a PC but started with ver1 and now saving up to get Civ5. It is time consuming, but like chess, you can just stop, save and come back. I think with ver3 they started the online capability. That's fun too. If anyone is interested in playing occasional and long running games, holler. I'll probably get Civ 5 in September.
