Finally got my first semi gun thanks to setsdw. I've brought it home and cleaned it and oiled it good. Now I have to wait til Saturday to go to the farm and try it out. I bought some critical defense ammo to try out because I've liked it and feel comfortable with it. Right now I'm just using hoppes for the oil and am using clp to clean it with. Can you guide me to if this is good to use or is something that will help keep it running better. Here are some pics of my taurus and smith and wesson j frame. It is a PT145 and my backup gun that was my primary is a litte g37

I've not used Critical Defense ammo in my PT145, so I'll be curious to see how it runs. The only ammo I've had any problems with was some very old, very dirty, surplus Lake City ball ammo. As for cleaning and oiling, I don't remember the brand of what I've got... it was in the kit at walmart and works well enough. A little oil goes a long way. Mine shoots quite well.

Congrats on the new Taurus. I've owned and still own several of the Millinium and Pro Series guns; both in 40 and 45. They have been great little guns for carry and for range time fun. I'm surprixed that you had feeding issues with ball ammo in it though. I've run everything from 50+ year old milsurplus to really crappy relaods, and some of most import ammo for them without any issues. As you say, must be some really dirty powder. But if you haven't already, check the feed ramp and make sure it's clean and smooth. These guns aren't top-of-the-line jewels, but they are very good affordable and sevicable weapons. Clean it frequently, feed it regularly and it will serve you well.
