I'm interested in getting a .22 suppressor anyone in the Chattanooga area shoot a suppressed .22? I'm looking into Gemtech Outback ll, Tac 65, or SWR Spectre anyone recommend a particular one out of the three? Also where is the closet dealer around Chattanooga area? Thanks.

Rule #1, buy a can that disassembles for cleaning. I used to be a premium member of the site listed above, but it expired. If you look in the premium section (you only have to pay to see the actual numbers, you can see what he tested for free), last year he tested 33 .22 suppressors. I messed up and just bought the quietest .22 can he tested on the p22, but it does not disassemble, so in a few years it will be a paperweight. If I could do it over I would spend an extra $100 and buy an AAC Prodigy. You can order online through Major Malfunction to save some money, just have to transfer it through a local class III dealer.

Sealed suppressors can be re-cored. Some manufactures will “clean†them for a price. Liberty will convert them to a user serviceable suppressor. Buying a user serviceable suppressor to begin with will save you money and time in the long run. Just remember to clean it often or it will be a sealed can within a few hundred rounds.

Ordered SWR Spectre yesterday for 355.00 shipped now the wait starts. I went with the Spectre because it is a take apart can and multi caliber rated 22lr, 22 mag, 17hmr, 5.7. What is the average wait time going right now?

I've had two forms in since 2-26-10. They went pending 4-5-10. I have the slowest examiner  They’re saying it will take 4 months from pending to approval, but a new examiner was just hired this week.

Advanced Armament Corp. Element.

That is all.

I like my Mite a lot. Not saying it is as quiet as the Element (which I'm sure it isn't but is still very quiet) but for the price is hard to beat. I have less than the Element retails for in my Mite including the tax stamp.

I didn't compare to many when I was shopping for my first can but most of the .22's cans were not that far apart in db's. I wonder how much the difference has to be to be noticeable to the naked ear.
