Question about Lee Classic Turret Press

Recommended Posts

Hopefully someone here has some experience with the Lee Classic Turret Press and can help me out here. In the little parts bag, there was a small plastic (nylon) square ratchet (Officially called "Square Ratchet" - Lee Part # TF 3567). I've found a good bit of info about this item by googling, but I'm still not sure exactly where it goes. Also, I don't know if the one in the parts bag is a spare one or if I am supposed to install it somewhere before starting to use the press. Anyone know?

56fordguy will be along to tell you all about em. I think that was what went over the center spindle and I believe they wear out and you have in your hand is the spare. I only saw it for a little while and sadly, not for long. Of course it forced him to get a Dillon which he lets me use!

What you have is a replacement and at sometime you will use it. It is installed in the 2 piece black housing that attaches to the ram and in which the turret passes through. A piece of advice which was passed to me is to raise the turret a inch or two prior to manually indexing the turret and the next time you order from Midway or other supplier, add 2 or 3 to the order to keep on hand.

This is correct, it's a spare. Plastic gear designed to 'drive' a steel shaft, it'll give. I got about 200 rounds on mine before it had to be replaced the first time. It goes inside the black plastic piece that is attached to the ram. If you notice the turret not fully rotating, or the shaft hanging in the ram and pushing the turret up, odds are good that the little plastic piece is worn.

I'll save you the rest of my turret press rant, most folks never have much trouble from theirs. Welcome to reloading!

Thanks for the help, guys!

So if I read that right, it's in the area shown below?

Will do!

Thanks. I've been reloading for a while now on a Lee single stage. Decided to give the turret a try. So far, so good - other than the fact that Lee's instructions absolutely SUCK. But I got used to that a while ago. Thank goodness for helpful folks like y'all!

Yes, it goes inside the circled part in the first picture. Take out the screw, and the old one will come out. Pay attention to which way the 'lip' fits. I don't recall if it's up or down, but be sure you put the new one in the same way.

Did your press come with the Auto Disk powder thrower?
