S&W M&P9

Recommended Posts

This here is my new to me, though damn near brand new, M&P9.

Bought it off a fellow member and have fallen in love with it. Had to go get some decent leather for it as well.

(Paying homage to the HKer in me)

Ran 100 rounds through it today without a single hiccup, other than running out of bullits to feed it. I have a wonderful feeling I'll be holding on to this one for a long time to come.

Haven't shot an M&P, but did fondle one at a store. Felt really good in my hand, kinda like I was cheating on my Glocks. BUT my Glocks'll shoot even with the ammunition loaded backwards. Sweet setup.

If you want to get the trigger even better check these guys out. It was next on my list. https://apextactical.com/store/product-info.php?pid35.html

+1 on the Apex mod. While I can't speak to the whole DCAEK kit, I do have one of the Apex sears on my .40 (They didn't have the DCAEK kit when I bought my sear.) It alone dropped my trigger pull from 5.8-6.1 lbs to 3.9-4.1 lbs. It also reduced the reset distance in half by what I could measure with my calipers. Shooting it now is much more enjoyable.

I can speak of the DCAEK kit. It is the way to go. It keeps your poundage around 5.5 but it is a very very smooth pull with no overtravel and a fantastically short and sharp reset.

I highly recommend the kit. If you complain about the s&w "mushy" trigger(I didn't think it was that bad myself) try this kit.

Randy at Apex is an awesome guy to deal with.

The trigger isn't bad the way it sits, nice clean break.

But the over travel and the long reset make it ugly to shoot the first mag or so. I'm used to a 1911, and my girlfriend laughed her ass off every time I short-stroked it.

Definitely going to drop in the Apex kit, even if it's just for the reset.
