Ok, so I have a Rock River Arms Entry Tactical - lets say that I want an SBR - would I just, theoretically, be able to pay the tax stamp and do everything else that is required on the lower and then be able to buy an SBR upper so that I can interchange the two depending on how I feel that day? It makes sense, but is it allowed by law?

Thanks

WTDeBerry....is awesome....:D

Perfectly legal. Just remember even if it has the 16" upper on it it is still considered an SBR. You must be in control of it at all times.

Thank you for the quick reply. I was pretty certain that was the case, I just wanted to double check. Thanks again.

an you have to get lower engraved, an wait till you get your stamp to buy the upper or it can be considered intent.

It's true that you do need to wait until the paperwork is clear before you possess a short upper. But, once you have a registered lower, you can have different lengths and/or calibers to swap out whenever you want.

Yes, I will certainly wait until I have everything in order. I have been looking at uppers tho, and I am thinking that an LWRCi M6A2 8" Upper 6.8spc would be rather nice, especially since this caliber works extremely well in an SBR. Would this be compatible with a RRA LAR-15 lower, since I do believe it is a complete upper, just so long as I use the proper 6.8spc mags? Thanks again.

6.8 uppers seem to work just fine on standard lowers.

Like you said use the correct mags. However, some straight 20rd mags do work also in a pinch.

6.8's just hit harder. They work with any lower just fine.:D

For a good mag at at a reasonable price, look at C-Products.
