Remember, this was in the heyday of American automobile manufacturer's Great Experiment in Poor Design and No Quality Control!

LOL...some might argue that the "experiment" continues...but now we just import the designs from Europe and rename them...the Ford Fiesta is back...

Are there any Pacers or Gremlins still on the road? It's really a null choice. Why have to choose between one non-running car and another non-running car? Back in the '70's, I had friends with each one. They did not last long. Remember, this was in the heyday of American automobile manufacturer's Great Experiment in Poor Design and No Quality Control!

Touche'

Which leads to the "dark horse" choice. Toyota pickup. 22r.

They will run forever with very little maintenance. Now, if TRD would just make a "performance" bolt-on 50 cal. roof mounting system for it I'd be set. :ugh:

One of the best engines ever. A buddy of mine bought some land in Florida a decade or so ago. It came with an old 2wd 86 or 87 model Toyota pickup that was beat to hell and back. My buddy drained all of the oil out of the engine and proceeded to drive it around the land completely dry to see how much abuse it would handle. He ended up driving it for a day and a half before it finally seized up. Mighty impressive!

Movie humor and whatnot aside.

I will take the Pacer anyday over a Gremlin.

I had a girlfriend back in highschool who's sister had a Gremlin, as well as a friend who had one. They were broke down perpetually. Both had bad rust on the floorboards, and the car was just not very well made. Did not ride well, were not very comfortable. Tried to get laid in the girlfriend's sister's Gremlin one night and it was just bad. Cops ended up knocking on the steamed up windows , so we never got the chance to finish.

Anyway the Gremlin's were pretty much POS's.

I later dated a girl whose parents had a Pacer. I tell you it was a nice car. Well appointed, comfortable and roomy. I did not do it in that car, but I distinctly remember thinking I would have been big enough. Lots of head and elbow room, yanno.

Give me the Pacer anytime.

Sorry, but I have to say the Gremlin. A good buddy had one and we could not kill the thing. We'd do donuts till both tires blew out then flop back home, put some more tires on in the morning and do it again. Drove a small tree up inside the drivers door trying to back outta the woods when leaving the Memphis Music Fest. Would take it on 600 mile road trips and the only thing we ever fixed was the starter. Out run a duece and a quarter with it.
