OK, that is where I had got it, I just really wanted to confirm.

I had the bright idea to inventory for myself a list of guns with pictures to put in a safe off site location. In case they where to be stolen and I noticed a very old .22 and 20 gauge I could not find S/N for them.

I dont' remember the year on the .22 remington model 33, it is really dads. He knew the man that brought it new. I need to get him to write down the story behind this gun and put it up. I think it is from around early 1900's

I am not sure on the 20 gauge other then I know it is dam old, single shot Eastern Arms Company which I found was really sold by Sears back in the day.

So I believe my 20 gauge is from 1949

I guess that explains why I can't find S/Ns

Just slightly-off topic, when did manufacturers start stamping serial #'s on the frame , slide and barrel on auto's ? My new XD-9 and PX4 are both marked this way. The way I understand it is that any individual firearm part that is numbered by the manufacturer is considered a firearm under federal law.

Only the frame or lower receiver is considered the firearm under federal law. Parts are never considered firearms. Some manufacturers just mark them for some reason.

18 U.S.C. 921(a)(3) - The term “firearm” means

(A) any weapon (including a starter gun) which will or is designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive;

( the frame or receiver of any such weapon;

© any firearm muffler or firearm silencer; or

(D) any destructive device. Such term does not include an antique firearm.

I say parts are never considered firearms but parts that fall under NFA are firearms such as machine gun sears, suppressors, etc.
