Florida Conceal Carry permit

Recommended Posts

What do you all think? 5 years ago I received a DUI in TN. Along with jail time, I also did 20 days in JACOA ( alcohol rehab center). According to Tn laws, I am not able to get my TN carry permit for 10 years. Went to Florida a couple of weeks ago and have now received my Florida carry permit. Being a resident of TN and having a Fl. permit seems like it could cause some problems down the road. Fl. officials claimed that I should have no problems. Fl and Utah give out carry permits to non-residents like they're candy. Just wondering what the forum thinks? Should I have any concerns? By the way, in Fl., 3 years is all you have to wait before getting a permit after a conviction of DUI, which I have already met. Am I just being paranoid?

TN is only 5 years wait for HCP after a single DUI.

"The applicant has not been convicted of the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant in this or any other State two (2) or more times within ten (10) years from the date of application and that none of such convictions has occurred within five (5) years from the date of application or renewal."

You are required to get a TN HCP within 6 months of becoming a TN resident to carry here, so yeah, you could have a prob if ever checked on a stop.

You are right about DUIs but 39-17-1351©(10) says...

That the applicant is not an unlawful user of or addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance and the applicant has not been a patient in a rehabilitation program or hospitalized for alcohol or controlled substance abuse or addiction within ten (10) years from the date of application;

To the OP, with your FL permit you should be able to carry anywhere that honors non-resident FL permits without problem. However being a TN resident, I think you will have to have a TN permit to lawfully carry in TN.

Oops...of course you are right.

Assuming that was court ordered with a record of it, yes, 10 years (as OP first stated, duh on me).
