I am relatively new to guns, my folks don't/didn't like them... But having spent sometime on here and visiting a couple LGS, I have been making a short list of ones that I want: or at least think I want not having a chance to fire most of them...

.22 1911

NAA Black Widow

.22 revolver plinker

P 238

RIA .45 compact

Springfield Micro

1911 9mm

M&P 9c/40c with 9c conversion barrel

I would love to see your short lists:popcorn::

Oh boy, ones that I want.

This is the list of what I plan to buy at some point. There are others that I can't think of right off the top of my head, and some of these I will most likely decide not to get, but so far here goes....

Sig Mosquito - .22lr

Sig P226 - .357 Sig

Sig P238 - .380

Kahr PM9 - 9mm

Kel Tec PF9 - 9mm

Kel Tec P3AT - .380

Ruger LCP - .380

Ruger Single Six - .22

Ruger Vaquero - .45lc

Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380

Dan Wesson CCO - .45acp

At least one other 1911 but I'm not sure which one. - .45acp

Springfield XDM 45 - .45acp

Glock 22 Gen 4 - .40

That's the list of handguns since that's the section we're in. I don't know if there are enough hours in the day for me to list the long guns that I want.

SW 15-22

A nice AK, maybe an Arsenal

Ruger 22/45 or one of the new GSG 1911 .22, I can't make up my mind

M1A

Shooting regularly is new for me too. In the past year I've acquired a Glock 19, Glock 26, Glock 17 (4th Gen) with an Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit, a Ruger LCP, and a Remington 870 Police with KNOXX stock. I'm not planning any new purchases soon but...I'd be totally done I'd I had:

1. Glock 20SF with a .40 conversion barrel. (Or maybe a Glock 31.

2. 4" Smith + Wesson 586 .357 Stainless. (Or a Ruger GP100).

3. A 556 AR-15 with a .22 conversion upper

See that's just 3 guns... Perfectly reasonable right?

The Glock is because I admire simplicity and reliability above all else. And because I'm getting used to the reset of the Glock trigger. The revolver is so we'd have a simple handgun in the house for my wife to use in emergency. The AR is on the list just because.

My short list:

A mini 14

10/22

Hi Point 9mm carbine

Marlin 30 30

ruger vaquero

Which bears and odd similarity to someone's arsenal.... Still, those are the faves I've shot and don't own. Well, the faves. The few I own are nice but I'm more of a rifle person than a handgun person.

I don't have a lot of guns, but the short list is pretty minimal too.

Things might be tempted to buy if I saw one on the store shelf at a decent price--

Kel Tec PMR-30

Kel Tec RFB

Maybe one of these days--

1911 9mm

1911 45

Maybe a flat top AR .223-- If brass deflectors work good enough to always knock brass straight down and a little forward. I have to shoot left-handed and it is weenie to buy a left-handed gun, but on the other hand .223 brass is hot enough that I wouldn't want to take a shower in hot brass just to plink.

=====

Previous short list items that didn't please as much as expected--

NAA .380-- A fine well-made little stainless pistol that I will never be skilled enough to shoot good. Someone more skilled could shoot it fine. And the older I get, the more it hurts my wrist.

S&W 649-- Another high quality stainless pistol that I will never be skilled enough to shoot good, and the older I got it just got brutal to shoot. Ten years ago the recoil didn't seem so bad. Traded that one off. Nice pistol, but not for me.

=====

Short list pistols that exceeded expectations--

Beretta 92FS-- They are all good, and the Inox stainless are just beautiful pistols.

CZ 85-- Shoots good, fits the hand. Pretty gun.

S&W 586 blue .357 4" barrel-- Shoots good. Loud with a huge fireball. High quality. Attractive.

Ruger Mark II slabside target-- More accurate than I am. High quality. I put more rounds thru the Mark II than any other gun.
