Gun history sites?

Me and my brother were talkin about my Grandfathers gun he has. Its a Walther 6.35mm. My Grandfather brought it back from WWII. Ive heard that its a German officers gun. But Id like to know. Anyone know where I could do some research on it?

I believe that is a walther model 4. Not too many were made, I don't think. I believe it might be a pre WWII piece. It should have a lanyard ring I think too. You might want to have it appraised by someone that knows what they are doing...unlike me

I think the model 4 was a .32 acp where the model 7 is a .25(6.35)

Are you talking about the history of your grandfather's gun specifically? If so, I don't think you'll find much. I'm sure there was a record at some point in time somewhere of who it was issued to and when, but finding that record, if it still exists, would be a near impossibility IMO. The Germans have tried their best to sweep their past indiscretions under the carpet so to speak and records on firearms would probably have been destroyed long ago.
