Alright well as the title states I bought another 1911 today, from a buddy of mine who is lets just say not gun "savy". He's the kind of guy that just buys guns to test them out and then sells them for whatever he can get out of them lol.Needless to say, whenever I get a chance I pay him a visit.Well anyways the info I need to know is the value of this piece as I'm no familiar with all the colt 1911's. The left side of the slide reads (patented APR.20,1897-SEPT.9,1902)(DEC.19,1905-FEB.14,1911-AUG.19,1913) COLTS PT.F.A.MFG.CO HARTFORD, CT. USA. the left side of the frame reads (United States property)No2283xxx m1911a1 U.S. ARMY. There are more marking thru out the gun that I can share but any info of the value would be greatly apperciated I'll try and get some pics up later on today, misplaced my camera early but thanks in advance guys

Colt: S/N 2,244,804 to 2,380,013 = 1945. You have a WWII era 1911a1. Should have a short trigger and a rounded mainspring housing. If it is unaltered, original finish, could be anywhere from $1500 up. IIRC, the slide should have more dates on it if it was the original slide to the gun. But they were designed to be broken down, thrown in a cleaning vat as a bunch of parts, and just pulled out and put back together. Could have been swapped during that process in the war. If it IS a mix, worth less. Enjoy it!

Just looked it up; your numbers are correct. My memory failed me; what a surprise. Correct slide markings; congrats!)
