P238 Equinox

I switched to using this gun as my EDC from carrying a LCP. In my opinion it's a night and day difference. I love the sights on the P238. The Equinox has a Truglow on the front and night sights on the rear. There is little recoil on the P238.

I shot 84 rounds of Tennessee Cartridge with no issues. My groupings were for the most part all within 5" at 7 yards.

I read a lot of reports on FTF and FTE issues with the P238. I thought I should post a good report. Here are a couple of pictures for you to enjoy.

A couple of questions for you as I also have a p238.

What makes the equinox different other than appearance from the regular model. (that gun is a beauty BTW)

Second, are those gold dots in the picture, and have you shot any of those out of it yet?

My p238 has been a problem child since day 1. When I first got it it was FTF after every round. I finally determined it was a bad magazine. After that it was flawless through hundreds of rounds until recently it is having FTE's. I think the problem is now the ammo. I recently started shooting S&B and can't get it to run 100%.

Strongly considering selling it in favor of a wheel gun for pocket carry.

The Equinox is no different other than the looks, and I believe it is the only model with the truglow front sight.

Sharp eye on the ammo - those are Gold Dots. I have been using those for a few years now for EDC. I have shot 1 box to ensure initial reliability with no problems.

I have also used a S&W 642 for carry some. I am now in love with this gun over the 642, though it's really no comparison.

I read many problem reports such as yours before I bought it. I read others from owners who have never had issues. I think it could be contributed to the ammo. I read a few were folks had trouble with their feed ramps.

I've run just under 1000 rounds through mine. When it was brand new, I used the slide stop to release the slide into battery otherwise it wouldn't fully engage, unless I gave the rear of the slide a tap. After 3 magazines, I've never had to do that again. I bought my wife one and no problems at all. I guess she's shot around 500 or so. We've mainly been using PMC target ammo. Have fun with it, it's a great gun.

I had a few problems with mine at first. I stretched the recoil spring a little and use grease instead of oil.... no more problems. I also use Hornady Critical Defense.

I have not had any issues at all with my P238. It has been a great ccw and is a very accurate and reliable shooter. I did have an issue with a Colt Mustang Mag I purchased for it. The bulge at the top of the mag on the mustang is higher than the P238 mag and causes the last spent round to not eject leaving it in the chamber. Not the guns fault, just this particular mag.

The Equinox and SAS models go through the Custom Shop. It should be roll marked under the ejection port
