Barrett for Wamp?

So, exactly who fits the fire them and send them home rhetoric? I see THREE incumbents running.

I only see one that voted for TARP. I only see one that was scared off of any supposed principles he has, when he resisted voting for the bailout two or three times, then caved when they scared him enough.

If you listened to Dave back around bailout time, he was focusing a lot on throwing out the big spenders from both parties. Wamp voted for TARP, I believe he voted for the Cash for Clunkers program, too.

I don't care who has the money to win at this point. I'm going to vote for the person who, in my opinion, is the best candidate for the job. If he doesn't win in the primary, then we can talk about the lesser of two evils in the general election.

I'll third the last remark. As much as I would love to put my vote in for Ron Ramsey, I don't think he's going to have the votes to win. Sooooo ... as a Conservative, I'm compelled to vote for the most Conservative candidate that CAN win. The two most likely options are Wamp and Haslam. Now here is where the even bigger problem is. Wamp is a career politician w/ a bad voting record on spending and a heart squishy with compromise. Haslam has a horrible track record supporting the 2nd amendment but his approach to business, to fiscal governance, and these things makes him a stronger Conservative than Wamp. To make it even more interesting my wife is a for sure vote for Haslam because she has met him many moons ago and he strikes a chord with her.

In the end, I'm watching the polling between the three. If Ramsey's numbers are remotely close, he has my vote. If not, I'm going to have to dig deeper into the political records of the other two. As much as I would love to vote for someone who will take a hard line stance protecting the 2nd Amendment ... it is more critical that we have a strong Conservative across the board. No politician is going to be "everything" I want to see in a governor but the welfare of the great state of Tennessee is at stake. And, we are looking at our biggest budget shortfall in the coming years. At a minimum I want to be lead by someone who cuts spending twice as much as he/she proposes additional taxes.

You are one of the reasons this country has gotten so freakin' messed up. Stop voting for who you think can win and vote for who you want. If we continue on the road of the lesser evils then people will NEVER REALIZE that within an election or two, you can actually get people who you WANT TO VOTE FOR as winners. Think about it, if there are 100 people who think the way you do and talk to their friends, that easily 1000 just to start with. Start voting your convictions and we will see a change because people will realize that true conservatives CAN win and WILL win if people stop chickening out. The next gov of our state will be a Republican. There is no worry about Mc-ex-gov-son winning.

Sorry to come across as mean, but if we always say we can't, then we obviously never will because we never tried.

Quite frankly no, I am not one of the reasons this country is in the condition it is in. You aren't being mean near as much as you are being assumptive and poorly judgemental. If I were to treat you as you have espoused and treated me I would assume that the ONLY thing you care about is the strongest candidate to support & protect our 2nd Amendment rights and will gladly compromise on fiscal responsibility and every other Conservative principle. Although I am sure you aren't that myopic and even if you are I am quick to give someone the benefit of the doubt rather than reply to their post and blame them for being "that type" of person when you couldn't possibly know the type of person I am.

There are numerous reasons why this country is in the "freakin' mess" that it is in. It has nothing to do with me or how I vote or 100 other people like me. It has everything to do with powerful people wanting more power, the effectiveness of creating a poor class dependent on the government, and the rationale that all the little bits/pieces/chunks of personal freedom & liberty that we give up for the sake of "protecting" our citizens doesn't add up to massive losses of those same freedoms & liberties.

None of the "informed" voters like any and all of us that come here to educate or be educated are what matters for Ramsey. What matters is getting out to those voters whose only exposure to a person's platform is the ads that interrupt their favorite TV shows. Although the tea parties support Ramsey ... they see our Gubenatorial race is a lock for a Republican when the rest of us go beyond that to see that one or two of those options are RINOs and not what we need.
