M1 Carbine Question

Is there an online resource somewhere for carbines? Like markings/stamps and what they are and the like? I've got a rifle that someone wants to trade me for something, but something isnt adding up on the rifle, and I dont know very much about them. My usual go-to expert on these isnt in the state atm =/.

I will assume the rifle is a USGI mixmaster. I dunno, maybe you have one that was not re-arsenaled and the parts may match.

Anyway a USGI carbine can be bought for 450 to 600 bucks depending. 500 to 550 would be a fair price for a shooter carbine. Something that has a decent bore and does not totally look like it was drug behind a tank.

I have seen them for more at gunshows but I always chuckle at 800 dollar or more carbines.

if it is a Universal I think it is worthless.

at any rate here is a link that has a fair amount of info M1CarbinesInc.com
