Couldn't find anything doing a search. Has anyone seen, held , shot, or owned a CZ P06? My brother in Fl. called, and said he's look'n at one in a shop in Tampa, and asked for info about it. I've never seen one, shot a 75 years ago, felt good, price was high. The shop don't rent the P06, so he's look'n for good info before he buys, any ideas of what they're going for, any issues? Thanks!!!;)

Thanks guys I'll pass the info on to him. I recommended the M&P 40 compact to him, he's inexperienced, but like most " Little brothers " he's got to prove something.:screwy:

I'm a undeniably a bigger fan of CZs than S&W, but I still came real close to getting a M&P 9 instead of the P-01. As someone else already explained, the P-01 (9mm) is funtionally identical to the P-06 (.40 S&W). The deciding factors for me were metal vs plastic and the CZ has superb ergonomics.

The reasons it was a tough decision is that the S&W is also a very good gun with interchangeable backstraps to make it fit your hand size and he'll have a lot easier time finding mags, holsters, etc. for it. I think I still made the right call, but I'd be glad to own a M&P too.

I'm sure the P06 is a fine gun. It's just that at 40, he's never owned a handgun, once a year for the past 10 years he comes up, and I let him shoot my handguns , he spends about 2 hr. shooting, now he wants his HCP. That's great, I tried to steer him toward a gun that has a easier trigger system to learn, SA, or DAO. The " classic " SA/DA system is harder ( at least mentally ) and takes more "work", rounds down range to master or at least, to shoot well. I have real doubts ,that he will be willing to put in the time. I know him, anything that requires a little "sweat" to do well, he will get rid of ,for something easier to operate. He's a southpaw, and even if he wasn't, he's got that " Pollock" mentality... Has to do everything the opposite.:screwy:

Yep!!! I still see a lot of that. One of the few ways to get their attention, tape up their sights, get'm to shoot 10rds at 5 yds. Then watch their faces when you shoot THEIR gun at the same 5 yds. Then they'll listen, at least for a little while.:screwy:

The CZ isn't as complicated as the metal S&W guns. Pull the trigger and it goes bang. No safety, only a decocker. No mag safety either. So, the only added complication is decocking when you're done shooting. I have two metal frame Smiths, and I like the CZ a little better.

A decocker takes less than 5 minutes to completely understand if you know nothing about guns beforehand. I'd say encourage him, whatever he chooses
