U.S. pockets $20.6 bln in sin taxes in FY'09 | Reuters

"In October 2009, firearms and ammunition excise tax collection climbed 45 percent from the previous fiscal year, the greatest annual increase in the firearms tax revenue in the agency's history, the report said. By comparison, the average annual increase for fiscal years 1993 to 2008 was 6 percent.

A Gallup Poll conducted in early October 2009 said one possible explanation for the surge in gun and ammunition sales could be that more than 50 percent of the Americans who owned guns and some 41 percent of all Americans believed that President Obama would "attempt to ban the sale of guns in the United States while he is president."

"It was unclear why the agemcy included the guns and ammunition information from October 2009. Calls and e-mails to the TTB seeking clarification were not immediately returned."

Clear enough to me:D

It's someone's agenda being tweaked. There are too

many who would give up our country, rather than defend

our liberties.

I have never understood how smoking and drinking relate to a God given right to defend yourself and your home.

It doesn't. Sin tax has nothing to do with "sin".

If it did, then other things never mentioned in any good book would have been considered for sin tax. Long distance phone service(remember that?) or candy, etc.

Unfortunately, gun grabbers don't view it as a freedom thing. Their logic is much more retarded.

You said liberal government. Our problems are bigger than just liberalism. If you didn't mean to differentiate, then I guess we agree :screwy:

We agree, but for a more philosophical approach - Generally speaking (in the context of the OP) conservatism is governed by fairly rigid principles of right and wrong as laid out in the Constitution. So we do have a very clear moral compass. That's why it is so easy to spot when we are off or violate those principles and liberals LOVE to call us on it. Liberalism is rooted in current ideas and perception of emotions (hedonism) so how ever they feel at the moment guides their ideology. It's like nailing jello to the wall.

+100. Although I hate using the term liberal to refer to these progressives/socialists. They are not actual liberals by any stretch of the imagination.
