Well i'm voting for Ramsey in the primary but if Wamp wins I will vote for him in the general but as I have said before, I will write in Ramsey in the general if Haslam wins the primary. Between Haslam and McWherter, I wouldn't care at that point. The State Senate and House is getting some good practice at over riding the Governor.

I didn't watch. From those i heard from that did Ramsey was clearly the better candidate. However money usually wins elections. Haslam has the edge.

I have always liked Wamp, but when he voted for TARP, it killed me. I remember calling his office thanking him for voting against TARP (the first go around) and asking him to stand strong and vote against it the second time. About 4 hours hours after phoning him, I saw him on TV saying, "..oh, we gotta have this..." The whole sky is falling type stuff. My vote will be going to Ramsey in the primary. If Ramsey loses, then I could vote for Wamp (assuming he wins). I do not want to vote for Haslam, but I will if I'm forced to.

My wife just told me she's voting for Zach, after I slapped a Ron sticker on her truck. So there goes my Ron vote down the drain. If anyone out there is on the fence, please vote for Ron!

He didn't really say why he joined, but said that he left because he didn't like the direction MAIG had taken (or something to that effect). It's the same thing he said to me. This is his stock answer. He doesn't really explain what that direction was (i.e. Gun Control).

I didnt get to hear it all Mike, thanks to one or several of my kiddos, but he started out with the same old crap about a group that was concerned with keeping the BG's from having guns, it was about then someone here had a crisis. They also were not given much time to answer stuff so he couldnt have said much. I think every one of the others said at one point or another that he was trying to buy the election which I thought was kinda funny as it is so true.

And that is what I meant about him being a phony, acting as if he has really ever done anything for the good of the people rather than for the good of himself. And the man looks goofy to me too and I aint pretty.

When Zack started talking about the tarp vote he was saying we were fixing to fall off a cliff, he acted as if had they not voted that crap in that the next day the whole world would have shut down, even the zombies would have been wiped out had they not passed it. He about made me upchuck he did.

The thing is if the average citizen of Tennessee had sat and watched the thing Ron was the only one who even seemed like a real person the rest looked so much like puppets I could almost see the strings. Well except for Mac, he looked more like one of the zombies.

The problem is that not enough of the average citizens even watched the thing, they will let the TV make up their minds or worse, not even bother to vote. Since my last post I have been on the phone with one of those that I mentioned was not even going to vote, I dont even remember what he called about but I ended up getting pretty angry with the fool. And of course he is one of those people who complain the most about pretty much everything alllll the time. But I had not cussed someone out in awhile so it did feel pretty good...

Ron would have been judged the winner by just about anyone with half a brain but it is too bad they did not have more time, given more time I believe Ron could have stood out more, and had it gone on for a few hours I think the Phony man would have eventually popped his cork and he and Zack would have been a'fighting:slapfight:....that would have been really cool, with Ron being the only one with a permit he could have simply shot the winner of the fight in fear of his own life and fixed the problem then and there:taser:

If Ron does not win the primary I am just going to write myself in and let the rest sort it out, I simply can not support any of the others.

I like Ron. I heard the radio debate on 99.7 here in Nashville today. I've been planning to vote for him anyway, but today really reinforced my decision.

I can't stand Wamp voting for the bailout, and his defense just made it worse. He resisted voting for it, until they scared him enough. Instead of acknowledging it as a mistake in hindsight, he tried to justify it by saying that no one knows what would've happened if they hadn't done it. We need real leaders, not folks who cave on their beliefs when Bob Corker convinces them that socialism is a good idea. "Oh", he said, "You don't know what they were telling us would happen if we didn't vote for TARP." So they scared the good sense and principles out of you. I don't need a leader who makes decisions based on fear of the unknown. Why didn't you listen to your constituents? Why didn't you listen to the phone calls and emails, the voters, the people that you work for?

Mr. Wamp, I know what the voters were telling you when you voted for TARP. Unlike the politicians in Washington, we intend to make good on our promise.

I will say that on Halerian Hilton Hill's show this morning that in his straw poll Ramsey got 8 votes, Wamp got 4, and Haslam got 2. That's in Knoxville where Haslam is the city Mayor and signs are out the wazoo. What I am afraid of is that Wamp and Ramsey will split the vote and let Haslam win. Sadly enough, I'd take Wamp over Haslam any day (though, Haslam won't be as bad of a gov as Sunquist was...)

Tennessee has a very poor record with former members of congress being governor. Remember Don Sunquist and Ray Blanton? Wamp is the classic "used car salesman". Wamp will say anything to be governor.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A national group called the American Future Fund is spending up to $250,000 on television ads hammering Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Haslam for price gouging cases brought against a family-owned Pilot chain of truck stops.The Haslam campaign responded Tuesday that the outside group is mounting "last minute smears" about the candidate and the company.

Nick Ryan, a veteran Republican activist who heads the Des Moines, Iowa-based organization, told The Associated Press that the ad stating that "Bill Haslam ripped off Tennessee" is being aired in the Nashville, Memphis and Tri-Cities markets.

Ryan said the group is spending between $200,000 and $250,000 on the ads. The group isn't endorsing the bids of either of the other major Republicans in the race, U.S. Rep Zach Wamp of Chattanooga and state Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville.

Haslam spokesman David Smith derided the group as a "Washington-style" outfit.

"A secretive out-of-state group with anonymous donors is now trying to dupe Tennesseans with last-minute smears about a home-grown successful company," he said.

Haslam has been the dominant fundraiser of the campaign to date. Early voting for the Aug. 5 primary begins Friday.

Knoxville-based Pilot Corp. was one of 16 companies and individuals that settled with the Tennessee attorney general over gas prices that ranged between $4.69 and $5.98 per gallon during Hurricane Ike in 2008.

Gas prices peaked at Pilot stations in Knoxville at $4.99 a gallon. Pilot was also fined in Georgia and Kentucky.

Haslam was president of Pilot until he was elected Knoxville mayor in 2003. But he maintains an unspecified stake in the company.

Ryan said his group is concerned over Haslam's refusal to divulge how much he earns from his part ownership of Pilot.

Haslam's campaign has said releasing his Pilot earnings would reveal personal information about the income of family members not running for office, and proprietary information about the company with annual revenues of $16 billion.

Ron Ramsey is only candidate in this race who has a carry permit. He has shown during the last few years that he strong on 2nd Ammendment issues.

Haslam was one of Bloombergs supporters untill recently. He finally joined the NRA in a desperate attempt to gain votes.

Ramsey sponsored and carried the HCP Bill in Tennessee as a freshman Senator, along the line of "Gun friendly, when gun friendly wasn't cool".

Wow people seem to learn the errors of their ways. My girlfriend had voted for the jackass in the oval office and I guess realized that was a mistake and Friday she voted for Ramsey. Hopefully she keeps the trend going in the right direction.
