Ok guys, so I am fixing to purchase my first stainless action rifle. So my question is should I go with silver scope and rings or just stay with matte. I really like the look of both, so not sure what to do.

Really no one has any thing to say on this......

I have a couple of stainless rifles one with silver scope and matte rings, the other with matte scope and stainless rings. I think they look good both ways, as much as looks really matter. There are a whole lot more options with matte scopes though. Not a lot of silver scopes out there really.

I had the same problem arise a while back. I feared that the silver on the scope would not match up just right and look goofy. I choose a matte scope VXIII 2.5-8 with stainless rings for my stainless Ruger M77 MKII in 350 REM MAG. I like the look. But as with much in the gun world.....to each their own.

Wow I too have a ruger M77 MKII but mines in 30-06 with a thumbhole stock. Ive always cheeped out on optics but this time Im holding out for the Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40 in silver.

Never really thought about the silver not matching up. Now I am sorta leaning more towards matte.

That was the deciding factor in my choice.

Yep.

Another way to think about it is...would you put a silver scope on a black, blue or whatever they are now rifle?

I have a stainlees steel revolver with a black scope, looks alright I guess. Thats the way I bought it. I also have a SS 10/22 thats got a silver Nikon Pro Staff that looks good, so really its just whatever trips your trigger.
