And I was very impressed with my first visit. Charlie is a heckuva nice guy (he even spent some time helping me dial in the rear sight on my MKIII), the facilities are nice, and all the folks I met were very friendly and safety-conscious. There were some very cool toys on display as well.

Interestingly, even though I'm not one to bash our RSOs at TWRA ranges, I found that the reduction in distractions (fewer line calls, shoot at your own pace, fewer shooters) really allowed me to focus on what I was doing. In just a couple hours of focused shooting, I saw definite improvements in my sight picture and trigger press. There's really nothing that makes you want to keep practicing than the feeling that you're getting better!

Hopefully I'll see some of my fellow TGO members out there sometime - thanks for recommending the range to me. The experience was a 10 out of 10.

It's $40 for a family membership. That includes your spouse and any children that are minors. Guests that you bring are $5.

I've been shooting there for about 3 months. And yes, Charlie is a great guy. It is a great time hanging out talking to all the guys and of course going through a couple of hundred rounds. Hope to see you there sometime.

I'm definitely interested in meeting other pistol shooters. If anyone wants to meet up in the pistol pit (haven't worked up to 25 yards yet), fire me a PM. If there's interest, maybe we can put together another TGO meet and shoot at CHMR. I don't have many toys (no rifles, only pistols in 9mm and .22lr), but I'd be happy to share what I have.

The biggest gotcha is they are closed the first full weekend of the month. Don't forget or you'll be disappointed when you show up to a chained-off entrance.

What days of the week and hours are they open? I will get a membership next month

Closing time varies based upon month - as the days get shorter, closing time comes earlier. Monday through Saturday, they're open 8 a.m. till close, with 7 p.m. being the latest closing time. The range doesn't open until 9 a.m. on Sundays.

As LagerHead mentioned, they are closed the first full weekend of every month. On the plus side for area shooters who currently use TWRA ranges, they're open on every holiday that doesn't fall on the first full weekend of every month. I don't know about you, but I used to hate having a Friday or Monday off work with nowhere to shoot (for a reasonable price).

I highly recommend the place. If you'd like to check it out as a guest, send me a pm. It's only $5.

some of the guys here did a meet and shoot at CHMR. I heard it was a great success. I was busy that weekend and could not attend. I'd love for somebody to put together another one
