what did you do constructive today?

Recommended Posts

If I don't find someplace that has the fittings I need, it'll be a helluva lot more than 5. I'll have to re-plumb the entire master bathroom, rather than just patch up what's there.

I've been under there 4 times today, and made one trip to Lowes. They didn't have what I need. None of the local places are open on Sunday, and it was too late to scurry over to home depot.

So, the jury is still out on how much this one's gonna take.

Best of luck to you!

Best of luck to you!

I seriously hope Luck doesn't have anything to do with it, or I'm already screwed. ;)

I moved into this place almost 20 years ago, and I've been having to do this crap pretty much on a regular basis.

And now it's starting to look like the folks that make the odd-ball fittings this place requires are no longer producing 'em.

If that's the case, then all the luck in the world ain't gonna help. It'll be like having a car nobody makes parts for anymore.

Sheesh, Jamie! This sounds like when we do a project at home. I've just come to accept the fact that we're going to the hardware store at least twice. Usually more.

At work today. Took my new glasses back to Eye Masters on my lunch hour so they could get the prescription correct. (Plus I found the high definition lens do not work well with computers...at least for me.) Now another 10 day wait.:D

Dae, this things been a "project home" since before I even moved into it. If I told you the whole history of it and me, you'd probably wonder why I haven't burnt the damn thing down by now. ( and don't think the idea hasn't crossed my mind a time or two. )

Btw... this place is a 25 year old "modular" ( read that as "double-wide trailer with delusions of grandeur" ) that has a type of gray pvc plumbing with compression fitting instead of what's normal or proper. This type of plumbing system is a proven problem child that's spawned at least a couple of lawsuits.

Having lived in one of those myself at one time, I know exactly what you're going through and you have my complete sympathy. Just never ceased to amaze me that you could not go to a regular hardware store to find parts to fix things on modular homes. No, you have to go to a specialty store. The one in our area is in a part of town where kevlar is a must.

I guess the thing that really aggravates me the most about having to work on this place is that I very much intend to bulldoze this thing clear off this hill someday, and build a proper house back in it's place... which essentially means that all this work will be wasted. :D

Ah well... still gotta live in it 'til then.

My exceedingly better half works probably 1/4 mile from that store. Though decently guarded and all, I very happy her office is moving to Whitten Rd. soon.

There's a bad area outside of Memphis?
It's in Memphis. On Brooks Road. Hence the Kevlar.

 Memphis sucks. Neener neener NEEner! :P

I tried to post here yesterday but my ISP has recently developed a habit of going wacky on Sundays, the one day that the techs have to be called and then call you back. It did not help that the one I got yesterday obviously did not know anymore about this computer stuff than I do. Amazingly on Monday mornings everything goes back to normal. This has gone on every weekend now for over a month and they do not ever cut a man a break on the bill......go figure. But they are a local company rather than a national one and I do like supporting local business' and for the most part the service is excellent.

Anyway, to the point, I finally made some progress in the Black Hole that others refer to as a garage. My thoughts are if we have not used something in over six months and in some cases over a year, then we obviously have no need to keep it, her thoughts are that we still "may" one day need it.

Well by golly I am taking my garage back little by little and did make some progress toward that goal Sunday, 4 large trash cans full to be exact and some re-arranging. The trash collectors were just here a bit ago and I could hear them cussing, they had better get used to it though because after way too long I am going to get that place cleaned out.

I did however do a bit more lifting than I am supposed to do and am paying for it today. Hopefully by tomorrow I can continue the mission. Folks who go to the land fill are going to find some good stuff but it is stuff that we do not need and our goodwill store has really slowed down on taking stuff as they are at capacity, so into the trash it goes.

I would much rather have a huge garage sale and make a few bucks but the road I live on pretty much prevents that as it is way too busy with no where for anyone to park, so I am again left with just throwing stuff away. I know that a lot of it will be "picked" at the landfill but the wife does not seem to understand that, which I guess is my own fault for marrying a female.

I have waited far too long to start this process of elimination and by doing so have just made it harder on myself.

But I am quite proud that I finally did at least start and did make some progress, heck maybe someday I will be able to actually park in there again although at this point that seems a long ways off.

So that is my "Something Constructive" story and is but the beginning, but at least it has begun.

Thanks for asking:)

I'm sure the Memphis Militia would like to meet you guys if you blow through. If you make it on a weekend, we can shoot.

It would definitely be on the weekend and probably over the weekend at least. That's a long ass drive from here.

In the "for what it's worth" department...

5 trips and about $50 later, I'm finally done with the current plumbing repair.

Yay me.... :(

jamie, Grat's on fixing your pipes.

My compressor broke a couple of weeks ago. A piece disappeared off the regulator. I am clueless as to where is went. I guess it just broke, popped off and, well who knows????

Anyway i tracked down a replacement for it today. installed it on the compressor. And that took some imagination to get it on. I had to disassemble the regulator to get it on.

Anyway I am back in business with being able to keep the PSI to proper specs in all the damn tires around here.

Does it count if I went to my job, worked my 8 hours to pay my bills instead of asking for a hand out?

If not, in about 15 minutes I am going to be cooking out on my grill I brought last week and have a couple cold beer in the backyard not hurting anyone.

VONTAR you are a true hard working AMERICAN! I salute you!

If all the parisites sucking the money from hard working Americans like

you, me and members of the TGO, the USA wouldn't be in the financial crises

we are in.

Just cooked pizza on the grill and am enjoying a scotch on the rocks.

Have a great weekend.
