Alcohol is strictly not allowed on UT's campus, not in dorms, frats houses or parking lots during tailgating.

Of course I know for a fact that alcohol is in all three of those places.

Used to love sports and even more so college sports, but the circus has fully turned into the freak show. Stuff like this and the Lebron thing is just beyond the pail. They couldn't hold down a real job if their lives depended on it and that's a proven fact. Yes the whole system is corrupt from top to bottom and the fans, boosters, schools, players - all of them are to blame.

Lebron talking about sacrifice of only taking 85 million. CJ whining about only 2 million after one sophomore year. UT players committing assault, armed robberies, ect. talking about how hard life is for them... I had to work two jobs, support a wife and keep my grades up (without an athletic "tutor" BTW) to make it through college. These guys make me sic! Rant off.

I've gotta finally weigh in on this. The ONLY reason this is news is because of the assaults on the two police officers (one on-duty, the other off). This sort of thing happens every week with UT athletes, but they normally get away with it.

As some of you already know, I had a side job (along with our very own Caveman) as a bouncer at the most popular bar/club in the Old City from 2003 to 2008. During the summers of 2003 and 2004, several members of the football team would come in every Thursday night to party. Invariably, they would be involved in some sort of altercation, and on many occasions, we had to remove one or more by force. It was not unusual to see 3-4 players pounding on some skinny frat kid in a corner, and then they would run like scalded dogs the second that security descended on them. This pattern finally culminated in a huge brawl that resulted in the club being shut down early one night and 3 players being pepper-sprayed and placed in handcuffs outside. The end result? The players were allowed to leave with their Strength and Conditioning Coach, and no charges were ever filed. From that point forward, however, they were barred from our property.

Believe me when I say that this sort of behavior is the norm in that culture, and not the exception...

Another sad thing is that you can replace the UT with any other college program and it is the same story, different place.

Not entirely true, but there is a commonality involved in the leadership. Look at the way Fulmer and Kiffin ran the program and you'll see where tolerance of this sort of behavior comes from. There are some successful football programs that under varying leaderships have tightened down on this sort of thing, even in the SEC. Not saying their teams are full of angels, but they know they certain behaviors are not tolerated.

The players here in Memphis, are known for this crap and getting away with it. It happens a lot, there are coaches out there that are trying to do something about it, but it is still a growing and mostly un-reported problem. Who do you think gets the first call when a player is misbehaving? I'm sure Saban has received a few late night calls since he has been in Alabama.:D

Actually, Darren Myles, Jr. is the only player who has been kicked off the team thus far, and that is because he was also arrested just a couple of months ago for another alcohol-related incident. Two other players have been suspended indefinitely, but neither of those is Da'Rick Rogers, the incoming freshman. The title of this thread is not accurate.

True, true, that "indefinitely suspension" thing.....or we will bring them back if and when we need them. Coach Calipari was good at that one here at Memphis, I'm sure Kentucky will see some of those too.
