BADASS Musicians

An earlier thread got semi-hijacked, through fault of my own. Post awesome guitar (or bass, mandolin, banjo, etc.) performances here. I'll start with two very different styles:

First, Megadeth when they were at their best: pure shred, wild solos, and as tight a live performance as you will ever see from a metal band.

Second, Nashville's own (by way of Australia) Tommy Emmanuel. The great Chet Atkins thought the world of him, so here he goes, twice. The first is Tommy covering a combo of Chet's versions of "Windy and Warm" and "Classical Gas", the 2nd is Tommy's song "Train to Dusseldorf". Enjoy.

You kill me!!!!!!!!

Just when I'm working my way to bed, you pull this?! I'm decently versed in this area. Tomorrow it's ON!

It's kind of sad that I can do what the entire bullet-riddled city of Memphidishu can't, and with YouTube videos no less.

Your music videos are no match for his level IIIA body armor... ;)

OK, a few various styles:

Eric Johnson

Jimmy Herring

Greg Koch (solo starts @ 5:00)

Danny Gatton (tiny club in DC, early 70's)

* Forgot to add that most "Big" name players say Gatton was the best, most underated and unknown. He could play any style. He killed himself in the early 90's.

Danny Gatton is one of my favorites! Well done, sir. I'm digging Jimmy Herring (and his band), and Greg Koch as well. Nice.

Greg was my guitar teacher! :D He played w/ Gatton one night back in Milwaukee and I got to see Gatton shortly before he offed himself.

What a shame....................

Saw EJ at the Gibson Lounge. We apparently weren't as enthused as we should have been. He DID NOT play this song.

Doesn't matter. That song has tremendous flow. And you also know a strong song when women love it, despite the absence of vocals. Chickies also love Satch's "Surfing With The Alien."

Often, I hear people say they can't play like the pro's, so they don't even try. I figured this is as good a place to show these 2 clips (NOT MAGAZINES!) regarding how imperfect they are without the effects and all the other pieces that finish the song. Here's "Welcome To The Jungle" by Guns 'N' Roses, in which Slash is known for bluesy rock and not fireworks. The first is the song as most have heard it. The second is Slash's isolated track that they added to the final mix. When you're done, you can find lots of songs with individual tracks on YouTube. They're fun.
