Moving on up.

Moving on up, to the East side.

Finally, the family and I are moving out of the 240 loop. We are moving to Cordova (Houston Levee and Macon Rd.) I have lived in Nutbush (to all you non Memphians, Nutbush is a neighborhood in Memphis) my whole life, in the same house. I am nervous as can be. I always get like this when I commit to something that cost money, but this is good for us. Our little girl will be able to start kindergarten next year in a great school (Macon Hall) which is a Shelby County School, not a Memphis City School, THANK GOD!!!!

The house is nice. 1800 Square feet + a huge 2 car garage. It is on a small lot, .2 acres, which is great, cause I aint a lover of the yard work. We are getting it from a friend of ours who is recently divorced and needs out from under it. We are doing a 24 month lease with an option to buy at anytime during those 2 years at $30k below the latest appraisal, (he wants out of it bad, his child support is now greater than his mortgage). He had it built in 2002 and he and his family have been the only owners.

We are excited and a bit shaken. We learned of this house on Saturday evening at a 4th of July party, went and looked at the house the following Monday, and we are signing the papers tonight at 6:30, and take possession tomorrow.

Just wanted to share with everyone our joy.

I was there a few years ago and it was almost dried up near the boat ramp. Water level back up? What kind of fishing can you do there? Can you walk the bank?

It has plenty of water now. Yes, you can walk the bank. There is actually a 7 mile trail that goes around it, great place for mountain biking.

Cool. I need to take the kids back. I've only been once and saw that the water was low, didn't look promising. Might have to run that trail!

Hadn't been there in years. Last time I went I had no luck bank fishing, and that is all I do. I am taking a week off work to "move" August 9-13, but I hope to already be completely moved and spend that time fishing and what not with my daughter.

We actually lived in the "decent part". My wife told people we lived in the Berclair area, and I would always tell her to quit lying. Berclair is about 5 or so blocks from my house and the bad part of Nutbush is about 5 or so blocks in the other direction. I live between Wells Station and Graham. West of Graham was where it got nasty.

Mine and my wife's first apartment was at the corner of Graham and Macon, right across the street from Stephersons grocery. My grandfather in law owned the apartments. I rolled in that area for a while!

Congrats on the new crib, MM. I was born & raised right off of Berclair myself. Still inside the loop right now (Colonial area).

As far as Herb Parsons Lake, I haven't fished there in years. Last time I did, the bream were biting great off the bank. Never had any luck with anything else there.

I used to ride horses in that area way back when. My family had the boarding stable on Hall Road with is now Houston Levee.

Congrats on the new place.
