Anyone have the short version of savage model numbers? 12, 112, 10,110, 11,111, 210, 24F, 40, etc, etc etc.

I have already looked on their website and I don’t see anything; short of looking at every model number and trying to compare them..

Gosh, you have me. I own 2 Savages, a Model 112 and a 12. The 112 is a Vsomething or other... basically a SS fluted bull barrel, long action, target stocked .308. the 12 is a Blued bull barrel, short action synthetic stocked, .223. Looked at their catalog tonight and can't find either, although the 12BVSS sorta looks like like my 112, and that 12FVSS sorta looks like my 12. Mine are a few years old. The 112 was purchased about 10 years ago and the 12 about 6 years ago. I wouldn't know where to begin to translate their alphabet soup or exactly where mine fall into those.

Used to be the 112 was the long action and the 12 was the short action, beyond that, I am completely lost.

It does seem that the 2 digit numbers are short action guns, in whatever config denoted by the rest of the number, and the 3 digit are the long action.

What nsnate said. I've got an older 111. pretty nice, barrel didnt last real long. Probably my fault w/ hot 22/250 handloads. I'm told they are easy to rebarrel, haven't quite gotten around to that yet myself.

40 is a rifle in 22H

24 is the OU series -- rifle over SG in various calibers/gauges

210 are bolt action SG

I like Savage products -- cost effective and generally good shooters out of the box. Most of their rifle are designed so bbl swamps dont req a gunsmith. (and drop in bbls are available from a number of sources).
