Has anyone sent their gun to the manufacturer for night sights?

Recommended Posts

I have been wanting to get night sights installed on both my XD and my Glock but I haven't been able to decide on a brand I like.

I like the trijicons but I hear they aren't as bright as other brands and the TFO's are way too big for my taste but are supposed to be very bright.

Will it cost me much more to just send the guns back and have factory night sights installed and what kind of turn around time should I expect?

Glock charges around $57 for their night sights and after paying for shipping and the hassle of waiting it would probably be more expensive than having it done somewhere. Call Craigs Fireamrs Supply and see if they have glock factory night sights (they'd be your best bet locally) and you might be out 60-80 bucks. Craig's Firearm Supply, Inc. Police Distributors

*i've also heard that glocks night sights were nice and bright and that alot of people like them but i've never used them.

I had Trijicons put on my G27 when I sent it to Glock for work. I think they cost $70 w/ free installation. However, I did it because it was already there and I thought it was a good deal. I think the Glock sights were $50 to have installed. I'd look locally.

I'm not a huge fan of the trijicons. I like the Meprolight Tru Dots. That's what I have on my Kahr PM40, and they are brighter by far than the trijicons. Plus they aren't as big as the trulo sights.

Sights are really easy to change out on your own ... even if you aren't particularly handy.

My favorite NS are Ameriglo Pro Operators. I also really like the ProGlo front offered by Ameriglo.

My local guy did the ones on my glock for free. I did pay a little more than mail order, but he had them installed in less than hour for me. I understand the XD sights are quite a bit more trouble though!
