,,, what is so grey about the TVA area?

It's sort of federal property, but not really.

You can hunt on some TVA property, but has no guns "rules" in some campgrounds.

Etc, no clear cut definition of just WHAT applies when/where in TVA property as relates to gun possession, with or without permit.

Similar with Army Corps of Engineers lands.

Correct....39-17-1359 (General posting law) uses the "language substantially similar", but 39-17-1311 (Parks posting law) gives exact wording to be used on a sign.

I think mainly that it seems not necessarily all federal laws apply to TVA lands....and in those cases where it may not, what, if any, state laws apply.

I spend over 25o nights a year in motels all over the country. I have never seen any motel posted. That is not to say the the Doubletree is not but I would seroiusly doubt it.

The sign in the last pic would be legal for any place except parks...they must post signs as described in 39-17-1311

Going back to my pictures in post 13. I have an update. I was at Clark Central Park today and a worker at the park was there I was just asking him a question about using the shelters and the fire pits, unrelated to this.

While talking it came up, that Park is on DOE property, not owned by the City of Oak Ridge, so that sign might actually be valid since it is not a city park.

I have been searching on the internet, not finding the information I thought I could find on line about it, as to if it is city, run by the city or DOE now. But the guy we talked to said it was owned by the DOE.

There is a park office out there I might have to stop in one day and check but not sure what or how I would ask as this is getting out of my league.

Most DoE property around town have the standard US Gov't Property signs everywhere. Odd that Clark Park does not. The city maintains it, does it not? Probably just another gray area. It is a nice park though.

Talking to the guy, he seemed to say that, that DOE owned it and the city run it.

I was asking him about using the shelters, ask if they where a first come first serve or if you can reserve them. He told me if you talk to the park office the can pencil you in, but if the DOE has an event they get them over anyone else since they own it.

All the Trash cans had Property of US Government on them, since I pay my taxes, I feel I own something there.

Come to think about it, since Parks are public, paid for by taxes they should not be able to pick and choice which rights we have and don't have there as opposed to other places.

You pay for all federal buildings, too. And can't carry in any of them. Not even a 2.5" knife, either.

Or the City/County building in Knoxville, which I pay for.
