Short Barrell Ammo?

Do I really need to be using this in my XDM 9 3.8? Your experience and wisdom will be much appreciated.

I use Remington Golden Saber 180gr in my 3 inch Springer EMP.I think the short barrel ammo is manufactured with a powder that has less flash when fired in a dark room.I really dont worry too much about flash blindness.I also believe the ammo is developed for better accuracy in short barrels,I also dont worry about this either.At under 7 yards or so accuracy is my last worry.

Rounds marked as short barrel use a faster burning powder so that more of it is burnt inside the barrel which results in a higher velocity. Personally I use it in anything with a barrel under 4".

As far as Gold Dots are concerned, the design of the bullet is slightly different. It expands at a slightly lower velocity to make sure proper expansion happens

You may wish to try them to see if they give you anything extra. May be better, the same or worse than regular SD ammo.

i wouldnt bother getting short barrell ammo for a 3.8"

for a 3" and under, i like it. but i have never found the need for it above 3"

I was thinking the same thing but I wasn't sure exactly how short of a barrel "short barrel" means. Thanks to all who have replied so far by the way.
