On this coming 4th, I have a lot of mixed emotions. I love that I live in the USA. This is the greatest place in the world.

Our founders seem to have lived in a time that in many ways is similar to ours. There is definitely a force in the world that would take away our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'm concerned that our own government is the culprit.

If you have not recently read the Declaration of Independence please take a look and consider the similarity in our times in history.

I am worried and upset that our government has lost its way. The modern world and its lobbyist and special interest have hijacked America. Our need for energy without some sort of intelligent plan has resulted in the BP oil fiasco. Some days I'm just not sure where we go from here.

My point in this tirade of whining it that there is a small faction of America that seems to get it. I am happy to say that many of those who get it are well represented on TGO.

I just want to thank my fellow brothers and sisters in arms here on TGO for keeping alive the ideal of America.

May each of you have a wonderful holiday, and please remember the men and women in harm's way.

Raoul, first off that was a very good post.

Secondly, I think people don't care. You are right that many here are the small percentage who do care. The general population could care less. As long as their cell phones work, water comes out of their taps, and the cable TV works.

If they have these things they are happy to follow the other lemmings.

Our own gov't is definitely the culprit. Their concern is not to make this country better but to further their own political careers. If Obama thought that securing the border would be his best chance at another term he would do it. Our so called leaders are sell outs and self servers. The voters would rather elect a rock star than someone who is the best candidate. The cycle goes on and on.

Don't know what it will take for the majority to wake up.
