I fired up all of the Critical Defense ammo today

It was an expensive lesson but I shot up all of the CD ammo that I recently purchased. I wanted to see if it was trash like some have said. I admit that I need to shoot more than a couple hundred rounds, but I could find no reason not to like this ammo.

May I ask what caliber(s) and through what type of gun(s)? I have only tried it in revolvers shooting at water jugs, and have been curious about the .45's that have since come out...

Thanks, B

well if anyone is like me they may not know what this Critical Defense Ammo is(was). I did a quick google search and found a very good youtube video that explained it to me.

YouTube - Hornady Critical Defense ammunition

Looks like some good stuff to have for home defense, puts me in mind of the glaser safety slugs, designed to not over penetrate.

Both seem to me, having pretty Jury friendly names if you had to win a legal battle and the opposing coucil wanted to try to use the type of bullets you used against you.

These by very name sound better then some other brands as well.

I shot the .45 and 9mm ammo in my Les Baer 1911, Springfield TRP 1911, Glock19 and Smith and wesson M&P 9mm. I had no issues in any of these weapons. I may do this for a few months before I decide to carry this ammo. I am still fond of the Corbon DPX and the Golden Sabers when I can find them.

I've fired the 9mm in a couple of Glocks and about 5 different sigs. Not too sure why anyone hates this ammo. I like it for my shorter barreled pistols; mainly during the winter time. I fully drink the cool aid about it penetrating better through heavy clothing.

I'm not saying no one has ever said that, but most everything I read is positive. I've got a couple of revolvers loaded up with it including my wife's carry.

Some have said that this ammo does not perform and sometimes fails to fire because of the old nickel primers. My understanding is that they use a different primer now. All I know is that I had no issues with it.

I've shot about 200 or so rounds of 9mm through various guns including Glocks, EAA Wittness, Beretta, Rugers and M&P's and never had any issues with them......

I take that back, the only issue I have had is that they dont make heavier grain rounds. 115gr just doesn't cut it....I want 124gr....:P
