I wonder if they are going to come with a trigger pin like the one used in the movie Once Upon a Time in the West.

That could be arranged!!

Alright, so you caliber guys break this down for me.....we have 38/357, 44 Mag, 45LC.

Here's my thinking. If I get one of these, it's going to pretty much be a range toy/show piece/something else lying around the house for HD. I am not a cowboy, rancher, ranch hand, or even a small time farmer......Since I have no real purposful use for this, I'm thinking that the 38/357 fits my criteria quite well. 38 to plink with & 357 for HD purposes.

What are your thoughts?

I think that I'm going to sign up for the 44 Mag/Special. I think that this'll be a great backpacking gun. Not that I'm in bear/boar country much.

Sounds like sound reasoning. Thats what I'm going with is 38/.357, due mainly to the cost of ammo. We reload for .38 :)

I just don't know much about the bilistics of all these rounds and I don't know if I might not be fully thinking about something.

I'm leanin' towards the .44 mag version myself. I think everybody's in agreement that .45 lc is just too hard to find, plus I have possible plans in the future that involve movin' to Alaska and that wouldn't be a bad bear gun in .44 mag I think.

The trapper model with a short 16 inch barrel that is designed with a large loop for gloves and carrying in a pack would be a better choice because of the stock and it is a legal rifle. Barely! I had a 44 mag in the 1895 model years ago to go along with my revolvers and it does a job on Yotes.

If you are serious about a Hand Gun:

Most Powerful Handgun - Smith and Wesson 500 Cal Magnum Pistol - Popular Mechanics

The S&W X-frame Model 500 is a brawny handgun designed to master the most rigorous hunting fields in the world. It is not a revolver one would, or likely could, tuck into a waistband. In fact, to call it massive is an understatement.

That would be a Bear Gun and with a few less years I would probably have one.

I've thought about the 500 before if I did end up moving to Alaska. Cheaper, yes. More impact, yes. Awe-inspiring, yes, but not as much as a lever action is to me. I think people underestimate the value of having a firearm that's a conversation starter. You get someone who doesn't know anything about guns other then what he/she hears from the liberal media, but they see one you have and just have to ask you about it. The next thing you they think it's really neat and decide to look more into the subject. I've literally spent 45 minutes at a customer's house while out on delivery talking about guns the instant I mentioned that I owned The Judge.

I can understand that and I own 4 different models of the Judge along with some replicas such as the Trapper. The delivery people coming to my house sometimes end up discussing the ones I have. It was 3 months before I decided not to order the Bounty Hunter when I first heard about it. For lever action my Bear gun is a BLR in 300 Win Mag. I grew up with lever and pump rifles.

I took a delivery, and they talked about some recent vandalism, and I made the comment that if it had happened to me I'd be outside with a .45. The man asked what I had, and me, not knowing him said, "well, it's called The Judge". Immediately he asked "You have one of those?!", and then we spent the next 45 minutes talking about it, the martial arts he knows, and the machete that I had coming in the mail. One of his ending comments was "well, it's good to know we've got our friendly neighborhood Domino's man out there".

That might be fun to SBR with a full size stock, but not for $500.00. I'd be interested at around $300.00.

I don't know my Win 94 Carbine is pretty short. I don't know if you could get it SBR'ed and save much more length.

Between Wanted Dead or Alive... and the guy on the new Magnificent Seven, It would look good with my brace of Rugers.
