Hollywood and war movies.

Why is the everytime there is an artillery barrage in a Hollywood war movie, everybody gets up and starts running around? "Band of Brothers"! They are nice and snug in their fox holes, the artillery barrage starts and next thing you know everybody is up running around! "Pearl Harbor"! The movie I love to hate. The Japs fly in and start bombing, everybody gets up and starts running around! WTF! Nobody gets up during an artillery barrage. Wherever you are when the shelling starts, is where you stay. Soldiers who get up during an artillery barrage are called "Medal of Honor" recipiants.

Another thing about Hollywood and the Military Channel. Sound travels at around 720mph or about a mile in 5 seconds, but not on the military channel. On the military channel sound travels at the speed of light, just like Hollywood. When you see the explosion, you here it.

I thought Band of Brother was a great film, even if the soldiers were a little whinny.

The Hurt Locker was a good film. Private Ryan is my favorite war film. Platoon was a great film, but the soldiers bunched up too much on patrol and when you are watching a trail, you don't stand out in the middle of it. Full Metal Jacket should have ended when Pyle killed himself.

If you have read this far, then I must appolgize for wasting your time, I just felt like ranting. I had a bad day at work :P

I always wondered why they're not zig-zagging when running away from artillery and bombs. Isn't that supposed to protect you more? :yum:

Not unless you throw in some barrelrolls.

that is how smart people like you and I know the film has been edited, if it is a real event, example WW2 footage or other war.

The part I can't get over is when the star runs what seems to be a half a mile in a straight line, with some form of aircraft overhead firing on both sides, but luckily not in the middle where the guy is running. Alot of times the guys around him seem to get killed but luckily the star does not.

Of course it wouldn't be much of a movie if the star died early on, but at least it would be more realistic of what happens if you're running around out in the open like they do.

same reason you full autos with unlimited ammo and 1911s that fire 20rds. the avg person wouldnt wanna see someone just sitting there or reloading after 7 shots in a gunfight.

That's why "Way Of The Gun" was as least respectable.
