If they are burned off does that qualify for the "that's gonna leave a mark" or do we go with "that ain't leaving nothing!"?

I'm betting there's a mark...

At first I thougth I might have known who it was about.

Well this person since they are alive won't qualify for the, The Darwin Awards but they might get a honorable mention since he won't be able to reproduce.

Have read that lot of high-voltage wiring is big-gauge aluminum, so maybe the guy didn't even have good odds of finding much easily-detached copper in a substation? Never been in a substation, dunno whats in there that would be easy to pry off. What's he gonna do, drain those big oil-filled transformers and unwind some copper?

The article did say that alcohol may have been involved...

I'm not a power transmission guy, but I think most of it is steel, especially all the tensioned stuff. The reason they use high voltage is to minimize power loss due to wire resistance. Aluminum is pretty soft. It's a much better conductor than steel, but the higher the voltage, the less it matters.

The article said he walked to the ER by himself with 90% burns and his junk blown off. That's one tough dude.

Yeah. The article said the burned-up dude would have had to climb out of that tall barbed wire fence before walking to the ER. Alcohol might have been involved.
