Who has a chronograph?

I am needing to chrono some loads.

I will pay for your time, gas as well as lunch. I am not wanting to purchase one as of yet but I do need to know my velocities for drop charts. I will be doing 223 and some subsonic Tokarev loads.

I am in the Knoxvile area and I will come to you if you would like and have a place to shoot. I have a range at my house as well as access to a 550 yard range that is about an hour east of Knoxville.

Thanks

I have one now, a few good friends bought me one for my upcoming birthday. It was very unexpected and a very thought out gift as I have been looking at them for at least a year now.

You know who you are and I thank you.

Not much help as I'm across the state from you. A chronograph and digital scale provided major improvements in my reloading.

I appreciate it. I did throw a few rounds across it today. It is surprizing what kind of velocity I was getting from my 16" AR, actually kind of depressing. The load was a near max load of Varget with a 40 grain V-Max yet it only gave me an average of 2743 for 5 shots. The Remington 7.5 primers were starting to flatten so I know the pressures were starting to rise. I would have thought the velocity would have been more. I am going to try to find a powder better suited for my AR but that will also work with the long barreled bolt gun I plan on putting together in the next few months.

My middle of the ground 69 SMK's had an average of 2371 with Varget as well. This load is an accuracy load though and not a supped up load. It saves brass as well as wear and tear on my gun.

Best part about all this testing is I can punch the ACTUAL velocities in my ballistics programs on my Iphone. Without having to guess I should have no problems getting hits at 400+ yards now. Before I was just guessing based on published data. They must be using some long barrels to get the velocities that are published.
