Help me with a tattoo...

I love tattoos. I wanna get more, I just need to finish getting all these guns I want first. :D

Just remember, while your tattoo may have profound meaning to you, other people might not get the same meaning. So, depending on where you get it, be prepared to be profiled. Whatever you do, don't get barbed wire, tribal designs, or a cartoon character.

No shizzle! It's just like a really bad vanity plate. The kind that no one understands and you had to pay for it just to confuse somebody.

And far as cost, my wife had two $60 or $80 tats, but spent nearly or over $1,000 for removal, and they're not even gone yet. In fact, one of them left a raised brand.

And if you can't figure out why I have a fondness... and I'm told a resemblance... for/to dragons, you probably haven't read many of my posts. :D

That's why they said to choose your artists wisely.

Buddy of mine (many years ago) got drunk and got a couple of tats. Unfortunately, his "artist" was either illiterate or also drunk ... or maybe both. The "THUNDER" and "LIGHTNING" tats on his hands came out "TUNDER" and "LITNIN."

Swear. Cross my heart and hope to die. 'Course my bud couldn't spell either ... so advice I got from him was "don't get drunk before you get inked. And take somebody with you who can SPELL!

Around '90, my first roommate at MTSU, who was all into rap, asked me to do a tat on his arm. It was the era of "It's a black thang. You wouldn't understand." So he asked me to put on "It's a white thang." But as I'm known to get ahead of myself in thought and in writing, I wrote, "It's a WANG thang!" in permanent Sharpie.

Jamie, you are by chance a fan of Anne McCaffrey are you?

Love the tats.

Titan14 - looking forward to seeing pics when you get yours done.

I don't have to explain them to anyone else,

Yeah....that's the general reponse I get when asking about tatoos. I guess I'm just too dumb to understand.

Maybe Steven Brust? His books' cover art is fantastic.

I've read some of her work, but I'm not really a fan. I prefer a little less science fiction where dragons are concerned.

< For those of you that don't know, Anne's dragons aren't Earth dragons... They're a native species of the planet Pern, and are sort of like the flying critters in Avatar. They are telepathic and permanently bond with their riders. >

Oh, and I didn't much care for the Dragon Singer series at all. < which is about a much smaller sub-species of Pernese dragon >

'Fraid I don't know him... though it's possible I've seen his stuff and didn't know what I was looking at?

Seen his books but never read any of them.

I'm partial to Michael Whelan's and Lois Royo's art work myself.

If it helps, Greg, I got my first one to piss off my ex-wife.

Got my second one 'cause I just wanted another.

i tell you we get them because they are cool.

what an individual gets probably has meaning to them. No one else needs to understand it.
