It's the internet. It happens. Face to face in real life, nobody really cares. I've worked with Mexicans, Russians, and I've tried to conduct surveys over the phone with cajuns whose idea of speaking is essentially slurring together every vowel sound of whatever word they saying and putting a french accent on it, and then they tell me they can't understand a word I'm saying. I've tried to communicate with people of all kinds of crazy accents. Something about the internet brings out the grammar nazis, but in real life, nobody really cares.

Strel and I already tried the Google translate and it did not work at all. It was rather hilarious. I don't care for your politics, Strel, and when your emotions get ahold of you your typing goes to ****, but at least you are trying. I still don't care for your desire for bigger and more intrusive government. I wish you had the opportunity to grow up here in the United States with at least a little bit of freedom and the illusion of more. But you didn't, and you actively seek to take that modicum of freedom away. Based on that, I cannot sit idly by while you try and convert minds with your drivel. I can't sit idly by while you cry racism and ignorance because you are unable to defend your leader's policies. The truth will out, strel. You cannot hide it forever. Some of us are free men and lovers of liberty. I will not be a lemming like you. I wish it were different, but you have decided to walk that path. I'll not follow you.

Ummm ok.

When I think of some American's saying "speak English" we mean speak the actual native language English not the language of your country. If I immigrated to a country where English was the not primary language, I would be expected to learn that new language to better assimilate into that culture. If I didn't learn that new language I wouldn't be able to assimilate into my new country thus possible incurring the disdain of my new countrymen. Is this so hard to understand? Wouldn't you perceive anyone who refused to assimilate as being both rude and lazy wishing to enjoy all of the benefits of their new country and all it has to offer without even feeling the personal duty to learn it's official language?

I as an American and one of native American Indian heritage welcomes you. I would ask you to please speak English so that we can better understand each other and our views. Let me be clear that I am not asking you to denounce or to forget your native culture because it's those qualities you bring that make this country such a great and wonderful place.

I can tell you that I am sick of immigrants who come to this country and cry prejudice because we expect them to speak English. I don't know of any other country that gives so much but asks so little of both legal and illegal immigrants. Last night, I heard a BBC commentator talking about the Pakistani born Faisal Shahzad who is a naturalized citizen and has admitted to planting the recent car bomb in New York's Times Square. The commentator said stated that they wondered what made Shahzad turn against his "adopted" country. Faisal Shahzad didn't adopt this country it adopted him after he earned the right to be here.

Do the best you can in your English and your grammar. Anyone who would make fun of you for doing your best is an idiot and you shouldn't pay them any attention.

It is important to write, speak any language you are trying to learn or learn better. So, strelcevina, stick around and post. The more you write, the more you read, the better you'll get. I've been told that American English is one bastard to learn so stick with it. I do not know how much time you have "under your belt" with English or what your native language might be but IMO, you're not doing bad at all. Focus on Caps, verb tense, the meanings of to, two, too-----their and there----your, you're and others, homonyms, I believe they're called.

I really doubt if you'll get much agreement from TGO members with your political views but they're interesting.

Hint: Do not come into a man's domain and trash it, in other words, do not speak badly about it.

I subscribe to a few conservative news groups but also to some left leaning groups just to get an idea how the left leaning among us think.

I would suggest that anyone who really gets upset with your postings just do the simple thing and not read them.....................But some folks feel the need to raise their post count.

Besides, all the parts that go into making any car are already imported from someplace else as it is.
