Negligent Discharges: My own personal confesion.

Anyone who says they will never have an ND is a fool.

I agree. I hope I never have one.

And for those that say there is no such thing as an accidental discharge; sure there is. What do you think a slam fire is? Dropping a weapon? Or the simple act of handling a Glock.

I have a .380 size patch job in my bedroom wall. It was embarrassing but it honestly taught me a valuable lesson in gun safety. That Beretta now belongs to my dad

I haven't had an AD yet. I have seen a few though.

The latest one was about a week ago at a shooting school I was attending.

We were all on line and instructed to "make them hot." Someone down the line put a 9mm fmj into the dirt about four feet in front of himself. Good thing he had it pointed in a safe direction.

The only ND I've had was when I shot my cousin in the back of the head.

Luckily it was with a cheap BB pistol of his. I made the mistake of assuming that since my finger wasn't on the trigger the gun wouldn't fire. I was wrong. I was not aware that this thing would fire just by looking at it a certain way, so walking around the corner of the house behind him it just decided to go off. Because of this I'm sometimes overcautious with firearms, and no matter what I always make sure it's not pointing towards anything that I wouldn't mind shooting.

I got my @$$ tanned about 40 years ago after a negligent discharge with my dad's .22 Winchester pump.

I almost had an ND recently. I got really lucky. I'm still not sure why it happened like this.

My Glenfield 12 guage pump action was waiting for some range time. So I took it down off the rack and was getting it ready to load in the bag and head out. I checked the tube and it was empty but I couldn't budge the action. I tried everything and couldn't get it to move. So I figured I would pull the trigger. It should reset everything and I'll be good. I DO NOT keep the shotgun loaded so nothing should have happened. So I pulled the trigger and I was right. Nothing happened. Pumped the action and a round flies out of the chamber. WTF?! Apparently, the firing pin DID NOT hit the primer cause there was no mark. I still don't know why it didnt. I have fired a lot more rounds through it including the one that was chambered and didn't have a problem. I just got really lucky.

I found out that my brother in law grabbed the wrong gun one day and put mine back with a chambered round. He has since moved to FL so I don't have to worry about him effin with my guns again.
