Am I the only one who goes looking for that "Go to first post" button, and it's not an option even though somebody posted since I was last there? This happened with the old system, too.

There is a go to first post button. Its the blue circle just to the left of the thread title.

It's there usually, but definately not always. I like the button. Could be a tad bigger.

Anybody else seeing a white rectangle with a red X where the benefactor banner is supposed to be under the avatar?
No
David might be trying to fix it and can't get it to work right, and you just caught him trying to fix it.... IDK though.

Hmmm. I'm still not seeing the benefactor png's. Wonder why.

On another thread, David said the "Benefiber" boxes will be addressed.

It should be right below your avatar but the benefactor.png file must be in the wrong location or corrupt.

The source code's there: <img src="http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/images/misc/benefactor.png" alt border>

I'm sure it's on Dave's to-do list.

The change-over serves another purpose for me: I get to attempt to understand the term "PNG."

Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a bitmapped image format that employs lossless data compression. PNG was created to improve upon and replace GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) as an image-file format not requiring a patent license. It is pronounced /ˈpɪŋ/[1] ping, or pee-en-gee. The PNG acronym is optionally recursive, unofficially standing for PNG's Not GIF.

PNG supports palette-based (palettes of 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA colors), greyscale, greyscale with alpha, RGB, or RGBA images. PNG was designed for transferring images on the Internet, not for print graphics, and so does not support non-RGB color spaces (such as CMYK).

PNG files nearly always use file extension "PNG" or "png" and are assigned MIME media type "image/png"; it was approved for this use by the Internet Engineering Steering Group on October 14, 1996.

That's what the wiki told me, so it must be true.

Or way off... Hehe. Gotta love wiki.

Just FYI.... I am going to create an alternate visual style that revises the header logo and replaces it with something a little less overtly "gun-ish" for those of you who like to keep a lower profile while surfing at work.

It used to be that I could search for "Mega" and quickly find the oil spill thread near the top. Can't now. Is there still a function that will allow us to search for words in thread titles?

I tried to go to my old posts to dig up the "Mega" thread and saw everything from 12-16-09 to 6-19-10 is gone. That's where I'm supposed to find the "Mega" thread.

I went to mikegideon's old posts, because I know he posted there alot, and it shows only 3 pages of old posts. Cut off everything older than 6-19-10.

Really happy to see the font sizing option is in the "Quick Reply" window now.

Ever notice a thread has like 7 replies but zero views?

Looks like you can search thread titles using the "Advanced Search" option (upper right, under the gun sight).

The drop-down next to the Keyword input box has a "Search Titles Only" option.

Still didn't show. As if that 12-16 to 6-19 range of threads died.

I'm liking the new graphics and all but to tell you the truth I'm not too crazy about the new home page. Before anyone starts blasting me I don't mind change one bit, but....

Am having a hard time deciding on the usefulness of the "Current Discussions" panel (or pane, never can remember what those are called). Seems too post-centric as opposed to thread-centric. Maybe it's just me but it's really distracting and confusing. If you click on the thread title (which is underneath the post) you are taken to that specific post left to try to figure out where it is you are.

Me, myself and I prefered to just see the most recently updated threads, without having to log in.

There are a couple of other things I've noticed that I'm sure are on David's list so I won't go into all that.

In short, IMHO, one of the strengths of TGO was the home page...very informative and easy to navigate. Nice to see who's online without scrolling to the bottom of the page to a list of names not comma-separated, or scrolling to even see the first post, etc. (BTW, my browser settings have nothing to do with it.)

Looking good so far, just a few more tweaks and it will be as awesome as what we had. JMHO!

While I think the current layout looks really good, this is a good idea.

Is this what you're looking for?

http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/search.php?searchid=6945

If so, I clicked the "All Types" box, used 'mega' as a keyword with "Search Titles Only" selected in the drop-down. Under additional options, I selected "A Year Ago" and "Newer" for the date range.

Thumbs up on the redesign. :grouchy:

I've been looking for that button since before the change.

Also looking for a button to show just the threads I've posted to.

Any help?

Look for "My Posts" in the end of the tool bar (middle of the page under the slide). There's two options: "My Threads" or "My Posts".
