The new layout is more visually appealing, but...

Having "Started by [uSERNAME], 06-19-2009 10:55 AM" under each thread title makes it hard to scan through a list of threads. Often times, the "started by" information is longer than the thread title itself. I have no use for this information and it's making my navigation of the forum more difficult. I'd be happier with just the thread title with only the name of the person who started it (just the name, no "started by" required) listed underneath the title.

It's also hard to compare how many replies and views a thread has when both of those numbers are stacked on top of each other instead of having their own column. This makes it nearly impossible to compare threads based on the number of replies (you can't sort by # of replies in "New Posts").

I only have one criticism of the new look, I feel the TGO logo should be closer to center of the slide or even to the right of center. Where the logo sits now, it makes that area look to busy. Other than that great work David!

I'm pretty intrigued with that graphic on the top period, from design/coding standpoint.

I see it's made with 3 .png files, but the middle one, and the middle one only, resizes depending on window width ... never seen that before to my knowledge, will have to see if I can figger from code how that works.

'Preciate your long hours, as always, David!

The center of the slide is a png being resized to 100% of the cell which is in turn being resized to 100% of the usable space, which is constricted by the overall dimensions of the DIV tags that define the layout of the forum.

I actually like that part. One of my gripes about forums has always been that you couldn't tell when a thread was started before clicking on it. I don't generally get involved in threads that were started in 1987 and revived yesterday, so this is a plus for me.

I agree here, but it's a minor gripe for me. Overall, I like it. Definitely much more "professional" looking.

not to jump the gun, but I have text overlapping on the main page.

There are icons for RSS feeds and subscribing to the forum overlapping type as well.

FWIW, on my end it all works and looks pretty good. Both IE8 and Firefox 3.6.3 seem pretty consistent and there are no issues on either browser.

Cool, I actually mostly get that.:usa:

Thanks.

Btw, only real slight grump I seem to have right off, is the different pale orange color for "hot" topics, whether containing posts or not. Just a distraction for me, thinking that the two colors gray/blue for "no new posts" or "contains new posts" is plenty, can tell if a topic is "hot" by seeing multiple pages or looking at topic posts/views number.

Might be just me.

That is just what I thought also.

I think David explained why but I dont understand all of it and I actually dont need to. Overall the new site looks good and in a month or two we will all be use to it and the old one will seem obsolete and fade into memory.

For what it's worth, I'm viewing this on an iPad tonight and it's working great. The borders (black) make it really easy to scroll via touch - an issue I have on lots of other sites.

I like it.

How the heck do you tell if someone is on or off-line now?

Green dot or blank one next to user name in posts is one way.

it is horrible. This is different. I had to log in again. You fancy people with your new technology... I hate this as much as I hate intermittent wipers. when I was a kid you'd hire a kid to wipe your windshield with his sleeve. For a single chew of rock hard barley twist that boy would wipe your windshield all day!

Just kidding, this is a nice upgrade, everything seems better to me.

Evrything looks great. Is there any way to get the top button put back onto the bottom of each post? I use the heck out of it .

Some of us are partially colorblind and it would be easier to see the dot if it darker. We see luminance better than chrominance. How about a dark red light? Like a Red Dot Optic.

I have notice that when I resize my browser that pictures tend to stay a certain size and overflow out of the window.

I agree that the green dot needs help. It's on my list.

I noticed yesterday that the pictures didn't seem to be resizing properly. It's on my list as well.
