Surface rust on a 442

Looks like I screwed up. I carry a 442 in my pocket. And I have been putting oil on it, I thought every night or two. I guess I have been sweating too much and got some surface rust on it.

Is there a good way to get rid of the rust? Or will I have to redo the finish after getting rid of it.

One good thing is now Im looking for a 642.

A little steel wool will probably clear it right up.

Clenzoil really helped restore the steel parts on my Colt Cobra. There was some pitting cause it was in pretty bad shape but it got rid of all the surface stuff.

Rub it on and soak it over night and rub it off again with a clean soft cloth.

You do know the 642 is not SS. Just SS. colored paint on the frame, same alloy frame as 442, wears just the same, some say the paint wears off quicker, don't know for sure.

Birchwood Casey Lead Remover and Polishing Cloth. It has never failed to remove surface rust and is non-abrasive.

I thought the 642 had stainless steel cylinder.

I also used some 0000 steel wool and oil and the rust came off. Thanks for your help.
