Going to my sons college orientation this week and making it a small vaca. I looked at the carry laws for SC. Just curious couldn't find anything about restaurant carry. Any one know for sure. I'm sure I'm just not looking at the right place.

Thanks

I think that map is wrong. Pretty sure you can carry in South Carolina.

Hmmm...well at least two different resources say you can not carry in a restaurant that serves alcohol in SC....do you have one that says you can?

I am stationed in SC and you cannot carry in Rest/Bar. They are very strict about

there carry laws. I have a TN HCP and it is honored.

The biggest differance is you must inform the LEO and present your HCP when he identifies

himself or ask for ID no matter what.

I don't know what college your visiting, but if it's USC in Columbia the campus is all over town and it is hard to tell when on school porperty or not.

Whoops! I was reading that from my Droid and missed the part about alcohol. Thought the OP was just asking if you could carry at all in S.C. My bad

As does the below map..

On a sidenote (its my thread so I can hijack it right? :2cents:) It is funny that Hawaii allows restaurant carry but it is pretty common knowledge that it is nearly impossible to get a carry permit there. :screwy:

Yeah...no real need for a law to prohibit carry in certain places if no on can legally carry anyway... :2cents:

Ok new twist staying in a hotel on University blvd in North charleston. Its across the street from the campus. Asked if we where on campus was told no but campus security patrols parking lot. So of coarse the lady downstairs looked at me all crazy. So would you just keep it locke up and not carry unless away from the campus to be sure. don't want to bring anymore attention to myself now.

Not sure about SC, but in TN campus police are sometimes fully POST certified officers and technically have jurisdiction off-campus, so seeing them in adjacent area really wouldn't mean much and definetly wouldn't mean you were on campus just because.

As long as I knew I was legal, I would carry. If you are unconfortable and/or unsure I wouldn't.
