So the Certificate of Compliance also has to be sent in with Form 1? All that Form 1 list that needs to be included are the photo's ans fingerprint cards. How about if I form a trust? Does the Certificate of Compliance need to be included then?

Posted

I can't answer the trust question but yes to the form 1. CoC needs to be included always. And its only like three lines so its good practice to just include it regardless.

I stopped and checked on mine last week as I'm over 5 mos. They said they are hearing upwards of 8 months now. That being said, they had one that was 4 recently. Luck of the draw.

I'm getting a little irritated too. Over two months now and the transfer from Major Malfunction to my dealer isn't even complete yet. Why the hell does this have to be this difficult?

Posted

luckly you....

my first stamp the dealer used a company check so I had no way of knowing when it cleared and they wouldn't call, I kept calling BATF about every 2 weeks to see if I went pending after 2 months, I told my dealer, dealer said sometimes this happens, waited another month, kept calling, called the dealer again told them something is definitely wrong, turned out BATF rejected the letter 3 months prior due to a USPS sorting machine ripped a hole in the envelope, it was returned to the dealer where it sat in a inbox of a deployed employee....luckly me....

Have you called about it yet?

Yes, mailed forms in Jan. Pending 12 Jun. Took a couple of months for my check to clear as well.

that's odd, it usually takes a matter of days for them to cash the check...

It was weird my last one was very similar - it was sent in Jan 15th and went pending in Feb but my check wasn't cashed until late march. It was all on time though as my stamp showed up mid July.

Taking a poll...I called on the office the week of Labor day..when should I call them again?.

Forms sent: 2/24

Check cashed: 3/2

Pending 3/28

Approved: 8/30

Surely the mail doesn't take two weeks even with a holiday...

Don't bother calling anymore. It won't do any good. You have already been approved. I've seen some forms take a month between approved and received.

I really wish they could do an instant background like other states do backgrounds for firearms. Or have a "frequent buyer" program where after your initial background you are not subjected to a full blown background again unless something has changed.

Imagine the revenue if a person could walk in and walk out the same day with their suppressor. I bet they would collect 10x the revenue in the first month over the previous 10 years.

In this day and age of electronics it would be very, very simple. It would require less manpower, less labor costs and less storage space for the records.

That should be the requirement. Just about

everything in the NFA Christmas Tree looks

to be made for slowing one down.

It's absolutely asinine. I have a TS/SCI clearance at work and I still have to wait six months for some jackass to verify that the other government agency that checked me was correct when they checked me. Bureaucracy at it's finest.
