Latest Class III: Guesses on Wait Time

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Well, my new Gemtech GSG suppressed .22 has arrived. I signed the paperwork today. This is not my 1st C3 and in addition, I have a C&R and am a former army officer. Think it'll be 6 months? Should have it by Christmas.

UPDATE**

Picked it up yesterday. Come to find out, they lost the original paperwork and my FFL had to resubmit.

In my experience since last summer to now:

From Manufacturer/Other Dealer to me, about one to one and a half months.

From Me to Buyer, about 3 months and change from when they send it in.

My last was about 3 months from sending in paperwork. Just did another and expect the same timeframe.

Ha, I knew that would work! As soon as I posted that, it showed up today.

C&R, multiple class 3 owned and former military make no difference in the NFA game. It takes as long as it takes, and that depends on your examiner as much as luck and your paperwork being 100%. My last F4 (suppressor) took 5 months, the one before that (MG) took 11 months, the one before that (suppressor) took 3 months.

Just transferred a F/A Uzi. Got it in Apr., sent paperwork to buyer, he sent it off and the stamp came back last week.

About 4 months.

I bought a can on a Form 4 trust on July 5. Went pending on August 13. Approved on Oct 14 and stamp in hand on Oct 25. So a little over three and a half months door-to-door.

I had a form 4 suppressor clear in 3 weeks back in the spring, this summer another form 4 suppressor took 3 months, plus another month for them to make it to the mailbox.

Any idea how long it takes to get to pending status once the ATF receives the paperwork? Just send mine off today. And the wait begins....

Mine took about a month to go pending - this past summer. You should see the check cashed in a few days and then (probably) 3 to 4 weeks later it will go pending. I'd wait a couple of months from the time you send it until you call to check the status.

Just checking this part of forum and seen I forgot to check in. My last one was 3 months and 1 week. I never have checked on one, never saw a reason for it. In fact I forgot I had the last one out when I got the call. When my wife said the store had called, it took me a moment to figure out why. So far I have never had one take longer than 4 months, and I have only bought in stock items.

The only advantage to calling (at least IMO) is you find out about any issues earlier. I agree that its best to just let the system work - calling every week only bugs the poor people that answer the phones at the ATF.

Just had a suppressor clear in less than two months. From pending to approval was three weeks exactly. It was my first transfer i was very suprised it went so quick i was expecting to wait a few more months.

I'm selling an M11A1 to a guy who sent the paperwork off week before last. Just found out the check has cleared so hope this one goes as quickly.

First Class III suppressor. Took 3 months roughly. I sent a cashier's check so I called to check to make sure they got it.
