According to TFB, Magpul has filed a patent for a quadstack AR mag.

I'm buying ten of them so I can carry five hundred rounds. That way I'll stroke out at the end of the road. If you put two mags together you could have used a FAL.

I can't stand another rush on Magpul mags again. I will wait a few years before I have to have one.

Magpul are indeed innovators and I believe they have done more for the tactical firearms industry than any other manufacturer out there. The only problem I have is that the aluminum mags work and work well. They have for decades and for thousands of troops in a miriad of enviroments. I personally don't understand the big push by everyone to buy plastic mags when the aluminum ones work and are cheaper.

Maybe I just need to drink some of the koolaid to see how it tastes.

im guessing when these are released, there will be some ARs made either by companies as complete rifles or individuals modifying their own to be (SSAWs, squad semi-automatic weapons)

Cool idea. I'll just stick with the normal cap 30 rd mags when I get around to building my own AR-15. I don't see a need to exceed the normal cap mags that our guys and gals are using on the frontlines.

This sentence doesn't make much sense to me. Explain what you mean. My understanding is that this mag will work in any AR and if that is correct, what needs to be modified?

they will make them possibly heavier, either a red dot, holographic sight or irons only, no tac light or laser, no suppressors, no magnifying optics, a sturdy stock, either fixed or a magpul UBR, possibly a VFG, basically replicate a M249 SAW

I speak a little Manchesterese, so I will attempt to translate: Don't be surprised if you see semi-auto m249 SAW clones in the near future as a result of the higher-capacity mags--either sold as complete rifles from some of the big manufacturers, or modded from kits by the "garage gunsmithing" crowd.

I don't necessarily agree with the logic--given that the SAW uses a completely different type of box mag--but I can see how one might arrive at this line of thought. Personally, I just don't see much of a niche for ANY heavy-ass semi-auto that shoots 5.56/.223 in the civilian market.

I've always wondered why somebody hasn't already done this. I think I'll have to pick one up when they come out. course, that depends on how much they are, and how much money I have to spend on one.

At a recent gun show, I purchased 10 of the "redesigned" magpuls.... Very nice I must say. I was lucky to miss the whole "obama scare" prices (due to not having an ar15 at the time.) Not that I had any "problems" with my stock steel mag, but the plastic feels better. I've scraped myself pretty badly a few times on the metal, but I have no such problems with the plastic.

As for the quadstack. I would LOVE to get a bunch of these for plinking! If there is one thing I hate, it's reloading or having to actually hit that stupid bolt release button. Woe is me! Counting in sets of 50s is easier too. I bet those would go well with my Jolly Roger lower I ordered last week.

Well, actually someone has... The Russians designed one for the AK-74 a while back, but it had some issues with the follower. I hear they've got a new one w/ the kinks worked out of it they'll be issuing with their new AK (the AK-105?, one of you Kalashnitards feel free to chime in).

AK-200. I comes with a quad stack mag aswell. I think I read somewhere that the MAG for it was up on gunbroker for over 900$!!!!! and reserve was not met!!!WTF:screwy:

Anyways, I cant wait to buy a couple of these but not to have in a SHTF situation. You might ask why? More bullets=more firepower. BUT what if you start having malfunctions in round 5,6,7...you ditch the mag and now you are down FIFTY rounds...just my .02
