When I first got my XD I bought a Blackhawk Serpa holster not realizing how far it sticks out with the paddle. I ordered a Kholster and tossed the Serpa in the nightstand and though nothing of it until the other day. I retrieved the packaging switched the paddle for the belt clip or whatever you wanna call it. For the past three days I have been using the Serpa with an untucked t shirt that covers all but the last inch of the holster. At first I was always checking to see if my shirt was covering it etc but as I have gotten more and more used to it I have noticed I don't check it nearly as often. I have also noticed that it is a lot more comfortable to carry as well in the same 3 o'clock position. Just this morning I went to UPS to drop off a big package and while unloading the package and me not noticing until I got back in the car that I saw my shirt had ridden up behind the gun exposing it all in the store in front of workers and other customers and not once did I get a stare, second look, or a freakout. I feel OC is more down to the actions and attitude of the the person carrying that will land you the negative responses. If you go in acting like a dumbass then you will probably draw unwanted attention, but if you go in like nothing is going on and not drawing attention to yourself by constantly messing with your shirt etc then most people wont even notice or as was said in another thread they may notice but just don't care. Anyways, that is my :meh: and my recent POSITIVE experience.

For my XD I also have the Serpa and the Kholster. I often just throw on the Serpa(with the paddle attachment) and wear an untucked shirt. I have never had any problems with concealment because I purposely buy large shirts.

The few times I have open carried or my shirt has exposed the gun I've not had 1 negative reaction. I agree with you, it's all about how you present yourself.

Guess that is a common setup. I also use a Kholster for IWB with my XD40 and a Serpa paddle for OWB

I don't know what size shirt you wear, but if you don't already, you might want to start buying the "tall" size, unless you are under 5'8" or so.

The size will be "xlt" for extra large tall or 2xlt.

It gives you about 2 more inches of coverage.

I have the XD45 4" I carry in a crossbread supper tuck and havnt had an accedental OWB moment yet.

What you're doing is a pretty far cry from open carry, though.

This is how i carry. I'm too "fluffy" to IWB but am not gonna OC. I usually check my shirt when I leave a vehicle and when I bend over. Other than that I keep my arm close to my side.

i was referring to outside carry not open carry

FYI, accepted acronyms are generally:

OC = open carry

CC = concealed carry

OWB = outside waistband

IWB = inside waistband

The longer you carry, the more you realize that the vast majority of those around you are so wrapped up in their own little world that you could have an M4 slung across your chest and they probably wouldn't notice.

I carry IWB to/from work just to not spook the other tenants in the building. int he summer I often carry OWB with little more than a cursory regard to how well i am 'concealed'. It is far more comfortable and like I said earlier, most people don't really notice at all.
